Not sure I personally want him, but I think the Steelers would trade him for a decent offer. Given that Big Ben is definately their starter now and for the future, and how well the team has rallied around Batch, it should give them confidence that they don't need Dixon.

If they got good value, they would probably trade him, they are shrewd that way. The team has obviously proved they can play well with just about anybody at QB.

Ben starts, keep Batch as a backup and sign/draft a Dixon replacement. He is definatley a luxury for them now, so if the draft pick traded helped them fill a need, they would probably pull the trigger.

There is a very good chance of a rookie slotting system being put in place. And you better believe that guys who are projected top picks will be coming out this year. They'll want to lock into a non-regulated contract. They aren't stupid. 2011 = lots of money, 2012 = very good chance of slotting system. Take your pick.

If there is a lockout, that likely means no draft in 2012. So, that means the 2013 draft would be absolutely loaded. That means more competition for draft positions, and less likelihood of "top rookies" making the kind of money they would have by coming out a year early. More competition isn't good when you're trying to get drafted high.

Even if there is a lockout, they'll make millions more by being in the 2011 draft. The upcoming draft will be loaded with talent for that reason.

Wow... all those QBs have a chance to put up numbers almost as good as Smith did in university. That's great... I'm sure that will fix everything.

If this team finishes with as bad a record needed to draft a top QB... then a new QB is the least of their worries. Bring in a new coaching staff, and let them make their mark by finding the QB they want. The team is well steeped in talent. Let's hope it doesn't come to that and the team can at least finish in second in the leagues worst division.
