k.
this past weekend:

Bills lost to NE by 8 points
Browns lost to Baltimore by 7
Lions lost to Minn by 14
9ers lost to KC by TWENTY ONE!

season stats, point differential:

Browns -12
Lions -22
Bills -40
9ers -49

It's pretty freakin obvious who the worst team is. Much like my hips, these stats dont lie.

not taking into account all the drama going on with the firing of our OC, etc....

...and which of these cannot say they are "rebuilding.".
I'm saying the same thing. Believe baby! Believe!
Tennessee started off 0-6 last year, and damn near made the playoffs.. 0-3 CAN be turned around, especially in this weak division..

last year we started 3-1, just to lose 6 of the next 8 games and we were still in the hunt at week 14 at 5-7..

This week at Atlanta is HUGE! if we dont win this one, or 2 of the next 3, you can probably put a fork in the season

I say wait for the mid way point.. if we arent ATLEAST 3-5, meaning we have to win 3 of the next 5 games, we are doomed, but 3-5 and we probably will only still be 1 game out b.c I dont see Arizona or the other teams being better than 4-4 at that point..

On nfl.com he has us at #21 right behind Seattle. He said two embarrassing losses after 3 games, yet he still picks us to turn it around and win the division..

WOW. I hope he doesn't visit Niner Talk and try to defend his stance!

BTW, I DON'T agree with that ranking. He must be a big fan.

I hope he is right.

I won't sport a woodie again this season. This is just like porn it's boring after a while when it's not real

I want to see how the Atlanta game goes. I don't believe this is a 0-3 team. But if they slip to 0-5 it could get nasty as it is a very young team.

This weekend. We'll see.

then why bother updating "power rankings?" If we're all the "same teams." Right now we're playing like the worst team in football. comprende compadre?

Good question. Power Rankings are stupid. But the one this thread is about, Jason La Confora's, is a good one. He actually uses common sense and reason, not retarded emotions. Not just where he has the 49ers, but the whole list.

Is that you Jason? Come on, you can tell us the truth!
I too do not believe we are the worst team in the NFL, we simply have too much talent on this team to be the worst. However, other factors have contributed to us CURRENTLY being the worst team; coaching is at the very top.

Player personnel is the other problem here that I have not read anyone mentioning. We all praise Balke for the good job he has done in the draft, but we did not do enough to address the major needs on this team; QB, OL and CB. (I know this was not Balke's fault as he was not the GM during the offseason or even today, this is largely due to McCloughan and Singletary).

You can have all of the "confidence" in Alex Smith, but you MUST have a viable back up plan. So you bring in David Carr? Not smart.

Clements was exposed last year against Atlanta. We experimented last year with Brown, he had some good plays but overall he is not a starting CB in this league.

OL, relying on two rookies to fix your problems at OL is a HUGE gamble. So far it is not paying off. I still think our draft was a great one, and I love the picks of the OL. But to not make a move to bring in any veterans was also a huge risk.

Now, I put OL at the bottom of the personnel problems because there simply was a weak free agent market for OL this past off season. Not a lot of options to go after.

Do we think this is a different team if the 49ers actually traded for McNabb? Well, it certainly couldn't be worse.

The take home point to all of this. I sure as heck hope that Jed York does not simply hand the GM job to Balke. I want him to do his homework and make sure there is absolutely no one better available. This is the mistake he made with Singletary. Explore ALL of your options.
