Have to have confidence in it. I didn't like the idea of Alex Smith being our #1 qb at the beginning of the year, but things change...Give him a better chance before throwing him out to the lions.
Or throwing him out to the Ravens..

I bow to Harbaugh's knowledge and experience...he thinks Rachal is a keeper. I would prefer Kilgore or moving AD over and Boone in at RT but...
The whole line looked really pathetic and Chilo was just one of the guys. There were often four pass rushers and three of them would get to Smith in 3 seconds or less. Pasodoc made a point early in the year that the game plan had to use more two step drops...Thursday they could have used this concept.

your kidding right? We have seen him in action for the last 4 years. Where have you been? Every time he is in he brings the line down. Proof was Thursday night

Why is Harbaugh protecting this bum? You'd have to ask him why he thinks you are wrong.

Dont know, Hell maybe they KNOW what he CAN be if he plays to his full potential. Just look at A.Smith, We do have alot of top talent players who have not yet lived up to expectations...
Also we have some pretty good coaches now so time will tell.

Overrated yes.
However, I feel Chilo is a good starter. It seems every starter on the o-line seems to have mental hiccups. Just cut him some slack.
I retract my previous statements.

This is not Chilo's first year.
This is not Chilo's second year.
This is not Chilo's third year.
This is Chilo's fourth year.
Chilo was drafted 39th overall.
Chilo is not good.
Chilo is a bust.

What bothers me is that he is not showing improvement.
Decent run blocker terrible passprotector.
FA Anthony Davis has really stepped up, Chilo did not. Frustrating anthoer 08 draft pick gone wrong, like Balmer...

With 3 no. 1 draft picks in the ol it should be protecting a lot better. I wonder what draft picks are the Ravens ol. They seemed of stopped the pass rush cold.

You can't be serious. This guy has been stinking it up for the last 3 years. How long do you want him to ruin the offense before you realize he is awful? I can't think of a worse Guard in the entire NFL. Everyone that comes to mind is debatable, and after watching Chilo blow assignments left and right - again - against the Ravens, none of them compare in the category of atrociousness.

How much more time do we need? Chilo Rachal should be awarded the Kwame Harris/Mark Roman/Kevan Barlow/Mike Rumph award for worse 49er of the 2011 season.

Right. At this point in his career, there's either "Rachal is good" or "Rachal is bad". There's no more "let's wait to see how he develops". And nobody that has seen a single game can say "Rachal is good".
He won't be moved before the offseason, but the FO will receive a ton of s**t from the fanbase if he's re-signed.

At this point I'm not sure if Rachal is even a good backup. Synder goes down, Rachal is supposed to come in and we don't missed a beat right....? Well we went into free fall. Willing to give him 1 or 2 more games though.
