The hatred for our QB id FLAT OUT RIDICULOUS. I swear sometimes this fanbase acts like the KKK toward a brotha, in regards to Smith.

So Norris was supposed to cut inside on that play? That is where Smith threw the ball. If he overthrew him towards the sideline, I suspect Norris could have adjusted and caught the ball. But on his back shoulder, he wasn't able to jump and do that. If he had, it would have been a fantastic catch.

Morgan's out of bounds TD I don't blame Smith for as much. It was a difficult throw to make. The one positive I saw in the game was the 80+ yard drive that Smith engineered on the 49er's second possession. And that was with no running game. Let's just hope we see more of those, and fewer of Alex Smith in the second half.

This franchise has run that same play 100 times. Montana, Young, Garcia and others to Rathman, Floyd, Edwards and others.

I have seen other teams run this play too.

Nine times out of ten, it results in a touchdown. The quarterback simply throws the ball to the fullback, like anybody playing catch in their backyard would.

Not once, in all the football I have ever watched. Whether it is college, high schools, or the NFL, have I ever seen a quarterback lob the ball over the head of a wide open full back.

Sometimes the fullback drops the pass, no doubt. It happens. Sometimes the throw is not perfect, and it is thrown at the fullback's legs or above his shoulders. Sometimes the quarterback or fullback slips as they are running.

But I have never seen a quarterback LOB a pass over a fullbacks head like that. That was something cooked up in the kitchen of "Alex Smith land".

Its like a clinical psychological condition at this point. He simply out thinks himself, and turns the routine, into the difficult.
the ball was at least 13' in the air at one point on that pass. No lie.
Aaron Rodgers would be looking real nice.....but hey we got manny lawson. parys haralson, brandon williams and chilo rachal....thanks MCClueless

And all of his passes deep are probably over 20' in the air at one point. I get what you're saying, but you're not saying it.

Flacco did it Monday against the Jets. Missed a pass in the end zone that went over LeRon McClain's (the Ravens fullback) head. In fact, it was pretty much the same play we ran just to the other side. So now you've seen it twice in one week.

Smith isn't the greatest QB but you guys are acting like he's functionally retarded or something. He had a defender in his face, and floated the pass.

It happens.

The QB coach is very high on him and wanted to keep him on the roster.

I can no longer go by Singletary's statements of Nate Davis as it is apparent that Singletary has no idea what is going on with the offense during a game.

Coach Sing should focus on making comments about defense. Defensivley the guy is a guru and possibly one of the best linebackers to ever play the game. Offensively I don't really trust his judgement. Is there a link to quotes that showed the QB coach wanted to keep Nate on the roster?? I'd love to read that. I think they should have for sure.

"This summer, quarterbacks coach Mike Johnson became the middle man. And the communication has not been as smooth. Johnson had started to feel alienated by Raye's reliance on Michael, Yahoo reported.

Johnson is a popular coach among the players. Two key offensive players suggested privately last year that Johnson would be a favorable option at 49ers offensive coordinator for the future.

One source close to Johnson said he was kept out of personnel meetings this summer because of his staunch support of reserve quarterback Nate Davis, who was eventually waived and re-signed to the 49ers practice squad. A 49ers spokesman told CSNBayArea.com on Wednesday, "That is totally off-base. That is factually incorrect."

I wonder if the reason Nate Davis looked like a mess in the preseason vs MN and SD is but he didn't have enough time to figure everything out on the field, same with Smith. Smith played decent last year and Nate was good in the preseason LAST year, but now that it's taking extra time for our 90 year old OC to get the plays down our QBs both look like s**t?

The reason he wasn't at the meetings is surely BS. But its not far out there to speculate he is high on Nate Davis.

The embarrassing thing is we had 2 good QB's we could of gotten for a 2nd or 3rd round pick or a only a 4th round pick. In McNabb or Campbell. It's our own fault for not realizing this year let alone 2 years ago Alex doesn't have it.

Flacco IS Alex Smith. Except for one key difference.

Joe Flacco will stay in the pocket looking down field for receivers until the last possible moment. Smith will give up on the play and either run or throw to the check down at the first sign of pressure.

I'd much rather the quarterback take an extra 3-5 sacks a game, then give away an extra 1-2 seconds on every pass play.

Your right it does happen. Smith made a bad pass, but he's also made good ones in his career.

Last year he completed a couple nice roll out TD passes to Jason Hill and Gore. Ironically, he arguably had the 2 best best games of his career in Seattle (06' comeback and last years 300 yd game). It's just that expectations are high this year and the team started the season with a stinker.

Being no fan of Smith, I still believe the team will win the division even after a rough start (2-3 or even 1-4).
With each passing day, the credibilty of this fanbase is getting smaller. The hatred for our Qb, the support of so many overrated players on this roster, and the blind support of a high school coach as our head coach...it makes me want to puke.
Many fans still believe Nolan was a good coach!!!!!

Also, many fans thought Shaun Hill was the next Joe Monatana!!!!! OMG.

I just puked...
