Singletary is officially an idiot. If he thinks most of Smith's throws were outstanding, then he is going to lose not only the media, but also the locker room and the fan base. Rule #1 of being a respected leader is to not blow sunshine up people's asses undeservedly. Now if he really believe what he said and didn't intend to blow sunshine, then we have an even bigger problem.

All the reports after the game were that Sing called out Alex for his play.

Sing is just blowing smoke up the medias ass.

To the players and now it seems like to Sing, the game was only a quarter and a half long. Therefore, from the 1st quarter to about 7 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, Alex actually did only throw 2 bad throws.

Nothing counts after that because the team gave up. I don't know why Singletary isn't addressing this Elephant more than anything? A Mike Singletary coached team appeared to have given up?

I think this is it, Shaj. Sing lit into Smith after the game. He's engaging in media spin for some odd reason.

I am thinking Cowher is someone we have to go after if this season doesn't work out. If we get Cowher and things still continue like they are then we have bigger issues as a franchise then just the coach.

Before he watched the film.

Once he did see it I think he realized, like anyone with the ability for critical though process, that Smith played much better than people think and he did make a lot of outstanding throws.
a post from another board..which I agree with..

Ah, but it was perfectly appropriate to humiliate Nate after the Minnesota preseason game despite a terrific 20 minutes of 100+ yards, 100+ QB rating that produced the winning drive, and then throw him under the bus and possibly off the team two weeks later. The differences in treatment are simply incongruous.

I've always said Sing is like Nolan...and they do a horrible job hiding how they play favorites..

it's not just about Nate...but also last year when Sing threw other players under the bus, because of Alex's play....like press conference after the Titans game.
here is someone who heard the interview

Wow! Just listened to the Murph & Mike clip. Amazing. Samurai Mike has gone delusional. Here are some of his direct quotes regarding Alex Smith:

Last week, before Sunday's debacle, on where Alex stands entering the season: "I'll let Alex show you with his play."

This week:

"He made plays. He took the team up and down the field." WHAT?

"In the 1st half of that game, he played about as well as any qb in the league."
WHAT? WHAT?

"He had maybe 1 or 2 bad throws in the game." WHOA!

On being asked whether he considered putting in Carr: "That was very disappointing to me." WHAT? WHY?

I agree that Alex made some good throws but he did make some bad throws. I also agree that he didnt play as bad as everyone says he did.

The plays Alex f**ked up on were huge though and thats all anybody will remember

he needs to turn it around this week

*sigh*

He was moving us up and down the field but Alex didnt execute when we got to to the goal line. he was getting us into position to score he and the team couldnt convert those opportunities.

You guys are so blinded by your hate for him that you cant and wont see anything positive about his play.

In the 2nd half Alex played like s**t. He better step up this week

Hard to execute when there is no play coming in to be executed...
