On that play, the ref called PI against Clements however and allowed what would have been a turnover or a fourth and long situation, to turn into a scoring drive for Seattle. Had Clements made the pick, the game would have been 28-0 49ers and we wouldn't be talking about any of this today.

With that said, I'm tired of writing about could have, would have, should have with the 49ers. Jimmy Raye and Crabtree killed us yesterday, and Smith let us down later in the game. But it was those two clowns that really set the negative tone.

So you think because it happened now it wont happen again? We looked a lot like the team the Falcons embarrassed last season. It might stop if we nut up and force Sing to pass the play calling and game planning to Mike Johnson.

we just don't know yet. i agree with the OP to an extent, but i won't know for sure until i see how the team reacts to it.

Sing loves this because now he can beat the absolute fu*k out of these guys in practice.

Didnt Gruden want Alex Smith in the 2005 draft? At least that was the rumor, he did say this last year as well:

"Said Gruden: "Alex Smith - he's a guy that I really liked coming out of Utah."

yup he did, and to be honest, I bet you if Gruden was our coach, and/or Norv was still here, i bet our offense would be completely different with Smith at the helm.

But cant worry about that now because we have Raye. I have to say that i too rode the wave of continuity on offense. Thinking that all those plays where smith threw, and threw, and threw in the pre-season, during TC, were gonna be put into the mix.

Yesterday at times, the playcalling was still soo terrible, that I actually knew every time the niners were gonna run. and im not even in the NFL. So im saying to myself, if i know whats coming, s**t then Seattle has to be 10 steps ahead.

A true coach with the correct offensive staff members, knows how to bring out the best in each player. Builds the team, and offense and/or defense to the players strengths. Almost like haynesworth. Yes he can play the 3-4, but for what he does, his skills are best used for the 4-3 (at least i think anyway).

We dont have a Walsh at all on our coaching staff. I just wish someone could see the potential that each individual player has, and max it out to the fullest, in conjunction with the play calling.

By the way didnt a year or year ago, we brought someone on board to assist with the offensive calling. May not have been our team, but i swear in the past 2 years, at one point, we had the OC, and asst. OC.

They brought Ted Tollner in the last three or four games of the 2007 season to try to help out Hostler.

BC Raye has actually taken a team to the playoffs and OC'd a high powered offense.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jimmy Raye was never a QB coach. I'm not even saying that JR is stubborn necessarily, but the plays he is calling, the complete lack of creativity or deception (i.e. no zone blocking scheme) is just not cutting it. Now things could improve, this was only one game, but it seems to my semi-educated football brain that the best OCs spent significant time as QB coaches first. Am I wrong?
