Post count limit should be in place before creating threads....
Trading for Revis would mean we would probably give up a couple of firsts or a player and a first or a player and a first and another pick. On top of that he wants 162 million over 10 years. That means we probably can't resign many of our 14 free agents next year and our big named ones the previous year. Franklin, Lawson, Smith, Goldson, Davis, Baas, Wragge, Spikes, etc and the year after Gore, Lee, Nedney, etc.
Think of how many of those guys we could have with 162 million. /thread

The only way we get better in the secondary is if someone steps up (I'm looking at Clements, Brown, Paymah) or if we get a surprise from Philip Adams. Other than that we are looking at upgrading during the offseason, whether it be by trade, FA, or draft.

Exactly. LOL sure lets trade for Darelle Revis but lose Vernon Davis, Dashon Goldson, Manny Lawson, and sacrifice our healthy cap room(aka Cap Hell) and revert back to signing guys like Bryan Gilmore in the process..

Uhhhhh.. at this rate u might have to keep on lookin dude... lol. Clements isnt gonna regain his probowl form if his life depended on it. Brown... is just brown. Paymah... -_-
However i would love to see Philip Adams surprise us all.

Sure, i'd love to have revis, too, but....we paid and are still paying $80 mil(ok, maybe $64 mil) for a guy who was a shutdown corner, came here and promptly proved that no man is an island. Without any help---literally---Nate the Great came here and promptly got passed on, and passed on some more, and now he plays way off to give up 7-8 yds whenever the Opponents want. No thanks, I would rather try out every UDFA who didn't sign, those who are about to get cut, and those who altho not Dbs but want to make the team, have a go at pass coverage. If we find one guy out of 200 I would be thrilled, but unless we try out a slug of them, we'll never know if there is some jewel out there. But buying an island? Been there , done that, and it didn't make us a great team. Nate is nowhere near earning his keep now, nor has he for a number of yrs. Let's not make same mistake again...altho your thot process was fine, and so was your intent.

Due to the CBA agreement( which might change) a players gauranteed money is pro rated over the life of his contract which mean that even if we gave him a 50 million dollar signing bonus that it would only come to 7% of our annual budget. Meaning his cost would be negligble compared to what he brings to the team.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! WTF is this?!!?!?!

I completely agree that things would change and yes change is hard...but in order to grow hard decisions must be made. Naturally when ever you sign someone that means there is less for everyone else, even if the signing is for a small amount. However all the players you named we dont necessarily HAVE TO SIGN in the first place( even if they dont want much)bass, Wragge, spikes(13th year) and maybe lawson. We could keep the neccesary guys( Davis, Goldson and maybe Smith) and still sign Revis and not be in Salary cap hell( were currently under the cap). Lets use that money and change the face of our franchise, immediatley making us superbowl contenders.

"but in order to grow hard decisions must be made" Are we talking male enhancement? Cialis or Viagra?
