Seriously... Put away the Alex love or Alex hate and look at it logically. QB was and is a huge issue for our team; but, if we bring in another young QB behind a bad line we will end up with another Alex. It's best to develop the line then bring in a young QB to take the team to the next level. It's a cart before the horse thing...

But..but..why does Alex have to be the sacrificial lamb?

LOL

Hey, He at least gets a shot to prove something. It's more than we can say for Carr...
It's going to be a bad O Line again. This is not continuity.

Hey, I was on record as not liking this draft. I was early on saying that two rook on the O-line would be hard. For pointing this out I was FLAMED!

All that said, it will be fine, Solari and Brown are hard at work.

The next excuse for Alex will be as follows, "the new line coaches changed all the protections, so our O-line wasn't ready!"

With all the changes, Solari will need to make NONE of our current players would have been ready out of the chute!
Oh ye of little faith-

We have not one but two OL coaches, and they can't be worst than the one from last year.

I think Bass will prove to be a better Center than Guard. Its been done several times in niner history where a player went from G to the C...Sapolu, Cross to name a few.

Besides, I'll say it again two first rounders starting didn't turn out to bad for the last team that did it-the jets, and they went to the AFC Championships.

But this is why depth is important...and why I laugh and cry everyone someone wants to trade a solid player just so we have more draft picks like lawson. Its a long season and we have not even started-injuries do happen.

Good job on going out of your way to point that out. I mean the Qb plays behind the Oline and no one even mentioned this being a reason Alex can't play. I've heard of success brings envy and with Smith not much success on Smiths part as of yet I dont get where the envy comes from

Oh great. More Alexcuses to come in 2010.

already have 5 that line up right in front of him. And 2 have double Alexuses because they are rookies.

Bad O Line last year. Bad O line this year.

How is that NOT continuity?

Seriously, the O Line may struggle to start with, but Iupati and Davis are both studs, and once they get a little experience and settle into their respective positions, look out.

Staley 6'5" 315; Iupati 6'5" 331; Baas 6'4" 330; Rachal 6'5" 323; Davis 6'5" 323.

Even if you sub in Wragge at 6'3" 315, and you've still got a huge, strong line built to maul and wear down a defense.

I expect to see some of A. Boone 6'7" 328 at RT as well, if the 20 year old Davis struggles, or just as he gets his bearings and gets more comfortable.

This O Line could be really special over the next couple of years. Should be fun to watch--unless you're an opposing defensive player or coach.
We drafted two OL with our first two picks in the draft and Heitmann got hurt. What do you expect given the circumstances? And are you not aware that we had the league's worst O-line last year? Changes had to come... and I'm glad they're happening now as opposed to midseason.

Exactly. Great post!

Snyder sucks thats why. If he was ok to start then we wouldn't have replaced him.

That's an infallible argument right there!

If you continue to make sense you won't have any fun around here!
