broke a bone in his leg?
Starting center Eric Heitmann broke his left fibula during this morning's practice, according to a source with knowledge of the injury. The fibula is the smaller and more slender of the two bones in the lower leg. The 49ers are checking to see if there is any ankle damage associated with the injury. If there isn't, Heitmann is expected to be out from six to eight weeks. Heitmann suffered the injury while pulling into the right flat on a running play. Heitmann broke his left tibia during a game in Seattle in 2006 and missed the rest of that season.

This is not good folks. Starting center gone + two rookies starting = Dead Alex and 2 yard rushing gains.

I agree, this would give Boone a chance to make the team. I would hate to loose him before we even know if he can play.

Well, with Baas at Center, can't really say how our pass protection will be but I have a feeling our run blocking will be dominant with this three:
Iupati, Baas, Rachal
Iupati, Baas, Rachal

time for Baas and Wragge to step it up
I think I'd be more worried if Foerster was still the coach

Not good. The team really needs stability next to Iupati, whose development is key to this season. Definitely a step back for the whole OL and offense.
Hopefully, he can return in six weeks, and only miss the first game or two.

I hope Eric heals to 100% and can continue to play football, but I've got to admit, I think this is an opportunity for our O-line to get even better. I think Eric has strengths at the position, but I also think he is "weak" in terms of physical power compared to most NFL centers. If Baas can take this opportunity and make the most of it, I think our starting O-line has the possibility of being better... however, we'll miss the depth. Also, if Wallace can't step up, this will be his last
year on the team.. that is if he even makes it out of camp.
Who knows. I mean confidence and comfortableness can do wonders and it seems as though Baas is most comfortable at Center. I mean, look at Barry Simms and the difference of his play
from RT to LT.
What are you talking about...he's been backing up at Center for like a week....how do you know
where he is comfortable at?
He was voted top center in college football his Senior year at Michigan and several teams had
him rated higher as a center than guard, coming out of college.
That was six years ago!! And I don't see any support for the "more comfortable" comment yet.
"After all, Baas said center might be the position that best suits him for the remainder of his career."
this is from the MM article today so I guess the horses mouth seems good enough for me.

Ok so I have him projected to be back during week 3 which is KC and we could probably take them without him.....so he should only miss to week 4 the latest. Bad but could be a lot worse!!!
