Some fans still refuse to accept that fact, claiming that the Packers OL was worse. Sure that line needed help too, but Hill's once-seemingly-brighter career was practically destroyed by the 49ers OL last year, and Smith did better simply because he was quicker out of the shotgun formation, and when under the center, capable of escaping the collapsing pocket.

I might take a lot of heat for this, but I AM rooting for Nate Davis to start....eventually. One thing that sticks out just watching that film is that he is deadly accurate, and he doesn't force things. If the play is a bust, or if he is under pressure he'll throw it away. He seems to have great touch, and good arm strength. Seems like he can shimmy away from trouble if he has to and CAN make plays out of nothing ....if not all the time at least sometimes which is something that can't be coached. To me, his upside is greater then Smith's. I'm willing to give Smith that start for opening the season.

If there is a cadre of OL supporters out there, they're doing a good job of hiding themselves.
