We are gonna have to pay to keep the name

k just curious , San Francisco/Santa Clara dont matter to me as long as its not LA..thank god!

Don't listen to this fool. Gavin Newsome is acting like a little girl and saying whatever he can in an attempt to keep the Niners in SF. He's been making ridiculous statements and at the beginning he tried to say there's no way they'd be able to keep the SF name. The fact is there's nothing he can do and the 49ers will keep the San Francisco name AND WILL NOT PAY FOR IT.

The reality is they would have to get a new law passed to not allow a sports team to use a city name other than where they play at. And most likely any proposal for this kind of law would be dismissed as nothing more than sour grapes if it was brought up by Newsome, and not be passed by legislature.

Ah yes, the rundown condemned building in a bad neighborhood vibe that Candlestick brings.
Yes . . . I'm happy that the team cleared the first hurdle to secure its long-term future in the Bay Area.

I've heard people say this, and I can't think of a good reason why that would be the case.

well maybe san francisco is definietly the most cultural place in the bay let alone california, maybe even the US, not to mention the history here, we can start a new history in sc but 5 trophies here... walsh montana etc. thats sf and that cannot be carried to santa clara, the trophies will be shipped but candlestick is the spot. we also lose the wind variable which was a huge home field advantage

Don't fool yourself. That wind has been a huge DISadvantage for us in recent years with our QB situation. You seem to be forgetting that our team practices in Santa Clara, with Santa Clara weather. What that means is when we go into Candlestick, our guys are adjusting to the wind just as much as the opponents.

The Lombardi Trophies have been sitting in a glass case in Santa Clara since 1988.
I wanted to share this with you guys as I am happier than a kid on Christmas morn.

During the 80's and 90's, I never had the honor or privilege to attend a Niner game, the luck was not in the cards. Therefore, I always had a longing to be a season ticket holder.

That dream came true when I met my extraordinary wife. Those on the Zone that go to the tailgates know her and her love for our team. She surprised the heck out of me with all her Niner memorabilia--She kicked my ass in that dept. Come to find out that her family lost the rights to four season tickets. We both were motivated!

Well, we both decided in 2005, to try to buy the rights. I was floored to find out how cheap they were so we went for it. The team had just finished 2-14 and we picked them up right after the last game of the season when the team was at an all time low. Since then, we moved three times from our original seats. We went from UR25 on the visitor's side to UB 12 on the home side. This year, two more as investments. Score!

I highly, highly recommend that you look into getting your share before the prices fly high. Once they win and the stadium breaks ground, these tickets are going to be one very hot commodity again. Go take a look at what happened to ticket and rights prices after a NFL team built a new stadium. You still have a chance.

I can't wait until that day when we meet face to face with Matt, our rep, and choose four new seats in the stadium.

A life long dream will finally be realized.

I'm glad that existing ticket holders get preference in the new stadium, but bummed that we have to pay another PSL.

Exactly, The city of SF was more concerned with "the renewal of the Bayview and Hunters Point" than our beloved 49ers. SF politics is ridiculous... I'm not even going to get started.

All I have to say is check out the comparison of the stick and the new stadium and a few things will jump out at you. Space, transit and 13 options to get on roadway, safety! (DoubleRock Housing project, across the street from parking lot!), cleanliness, ect.

I'm excited for the new stadium, and I live in the city!
