seems that there's a silly rule by the NFL that before a Super Bowl can be played there, any new stadium must have been played in for 2 WHOLE SEASONS.

DUMB. (I know its to ensure the venue is suitably prepared, but it shouldn't take 2 freakin' seasons to do so!)

Unless this stupid stipulation is revised (or somehow the Santa Clara stadium can be built a year early), the earliest a Super Bowl can be held in Nor Cal is 2016 (Super Bowl L). Well, at least 50 will be the "Golden Anniversary" of the Super Bowl, and the 49ers can tie that theme into their bid.

2nd the reason it was played at Stanford was due to last minute maintenance issues. It had NOTHING to do with "seating" as you so thoughtfully suggested.

Well now that they opened the door for all the cold weasther cities, they probably will want to hold them all in Green Bay or Canton, OH. Only p***y teams can't play in the frozen tundra. They'll be a scramble in all the cold weather cities to build non-dome stadiums. Buffalo would be just perfect for the superbowl, don't you think.

The only thing that will stop it will be when the NFL realizes they have to have supersized seats to accomodate all the people in cold weather gear. Maybe they'll just build all box seats and Corporate America can buy them all.

Why not internationalize the Super Bowl and hold it in Moscow or Siberia. Think of all the revenue they could get if they held the licensing rights for hookers in Sweden and held it in Stockholm.

I think it would be cool to see the SB in San Fran. We all know we need more west coast Super Bowls!

lol...I did for governor and my 49ers have gotten nothing out of it so far. I voted Democrat for the city of LA and we have a shovel ready stadium project without even having a team.
