If the Chargers were willing to move up to 12, they probably could have given the Broncos enough to move up to 11, though perhaps the Broncos would not want to deal with a division rival. To be honest, I was surprised the Chargers didn't draft Dan Williams when they moved up.
I think what it really shows is that the 49ers had Davis rated on their board much higher than Bulaga (or any of the other remaining tackles). If Davis and Bulaga were close on their board, the trade doesn't make sense since at least 1 of them was a good bet to be there at 13. The fact they did move up 2 spots to ensure they got Davis tells me there was a significant gap between Davis and Bulaga in their minds.

Well 49ers trade came in the middle of the 11th pick clock when the Chargers trade was done before the Niners pick was over. And at a time the Chargers only needed to pick above the 49ers at 12 to get him.

Nope I think they had no clue what the Chargers were gonna do, and I don't think the Chargers were gonna trade up that high for Davis. It's pretty clear they targeted and wanted Matthews. They just made the move b/c they wanted the player and had no indication on what if any team would trade up to get him. Nothing wrong wiht making sure you get the player you want.

its a bit of a piss off to give up pick #113 but i guess we really wanted this guy, and u never know if another team was gonna trade up to 12 besides the chargers to take davis had we stayed at 13

i understand the move
better be agressive if you fall in love with one guy than wait that he falls into your hands ... NOT !
That's how we got the GOAT
Just trade up two spots for a 4th ? The price is correct although a 5th would have been good but we had no more of 'hem
