I'm glad someone else posted this, I wanted to but apparently I have to wait 7 days before I can start a topic.

I like the idea, Baas was a beast at center and it seems to be his natural position. Iupati, Baas, and Rachal (reaching his potential) would be pretty nasty. Add the two fluid OT's and we'd have a very good OL that could run up the middle. It's at least worth a try
That is the best idea for Baas. His days as a guard are numbered. He can play the Center position, and I had always thought that was why he was drafted in the first place. He is injury prone thus not reliable. Maybe a back-up. We still need a center.
Maybe he can play there. Heitman isn't all that great.

as long as they get the best 5 out there i dont care what they do
i think that move is a great one. Heitmann is not that good and baas could be a lot better given the chance. That would be sick. Staley Iupati Baas Rachal Davis 3 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders all of which have loads of talent.....at least this way we could resign baas and him or rachal don't get backup roles

that might very well be our best 5

So, let me see. You want our O line to include two rookies and a guy playing a position he hasn't played for five years. And in another thread nearby people are saying this will be Smith's last year. With a line like that it may be.

If you want Baas to start - and it is really not clear to me why - then the obvious move is to shift Heitmann to guard. Despite your comments, neither Baas nor Rachal can justify starting ahead of him.
i am all for that I think Cody Wallace sucks anyway
Staley Iupoti Heitman Rachal Davis

Sims Baas Baas Wragge Boone

Davis Wragge Wragge Baas Sims

Staley

With Baas and Wragge interchangable at the 1st and 2nd backup center spot and Sims and Staley also able to switch to bolster the right side, the OL can be both solid and stable with these 9 guys for quite a number of years.
Heightman is solid at center and I think just needs some better play from the 2 guard spots. Baas is not yet ready to push Heitman out of the #1 center spot but provides depth at both LG and C.

I think it's a no-brainer. Baas is the obvious choice to take over for Hietman.

At guard, but he's a darn good center. I hope we keep him around.
