To be honest, I see that as the most likely outcome of all this, sadly.

Oh gawd this would be the worst thing to happen honestly. I have been a fan for 30 years and I want a new stadium in the Bay Area. Candlestick is actually located in South San Franciso and if you are so tied to the 49ers playing in SF that battle was lost in the 70's when they moved from Kezar.

Frankly, I don't want to lose the 49ers in the Bay Area and when it comes down to it I am not willing to lose the team over 3 second pan showcasing GA.

Build the f**king stadium already and keep the 49ers out of LA. Is this something we can agree on?

And btw, this EPA lawsuit is nothing less than lawyerese at its worst. F**k you Cedar Falls and calling the Yorks cheap is beyond old. Don't get me wrong I miss Eddie dearly. So this goes out to the Yorks,

buy GA from those c**ts (aka Cedar Falls) and build whatever the f**k you want as long as it ends up being a new 49ers stadium.

This one is even worse than midrdan cause you claim to be a fan for 30 years. Ever been to a game?? I wonder if midrdan has ever been to a game. Everyone else has already stole my thunder on this thread so its the little things that irritate me this morning. Candlestick in Daly City?? In South City?? REALLY?!?!? Ever check a map? Maybe you can look at the street signs - all SF street signs are black on white. MUNI buses only travel in SF. I live 4 miles away from the Stick and used to work for the Giants when I was in high school, I NEVER thought Hunters Point was Daly City or South City..... Are you getting confused with the Cow Palace? So just to be clear again - 602 JAMESTOWN AVE. SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94124.

Can you tell I'm bitter about the team trying to leave?

I don't even live in the State anymore.

But that's not the point.

The point is that the team has been there for the fans all along.

They always fielded a team and played a season except ONCE and that was during the lockout season.

They've supported the community that they're"sponging off of" and to me it's insane that the Gestapo tactics of the city government have done nothing but run the team off rather than let the fans vote embrace them.

Insane.

Will I die if the Stadium is built in Santa Clara? No. Will it make the South Bay fan's life easier? Hell yes. But what about the North Bay? Sacramento? Modesto? Fresno? What about all those areas that have to be on the highway even longer to get to a game? How many times you been over the Altamont to watch a game?

Screw traffic. You're gonna have traffic no matter where the team plays. Traffic did not increase except for routing if they stay in the City. Traffic is easier to navigate in Oakland imho.

So if all you're worried about is traffic become Raider and A's fans. Or take a bunch of people to your nearest BART station and reroute with MUNI if Mass transit is your argument.

I just want a new Stadium for our guys. The team deserved it LONG before they got bad. I find it ludicrous to whine about how putrid they've been when you can't even stand up for them. There should've been a nonstop picket in front of City Hall by any fan that is within reasonable driving range back when Willie B. was mucking with the whole issue. It was VOTED on. It passed. Ballot stuffing my ass.

Traffic is not going to be an issue at the Hunter's Point location. It's being designed from the ground up for this. I'd be OK waiting an extra year or two to see the Santa Clara (and maybe even Oakland) option fail to see it there. Or, if it's not going to be on the peninsula Oakland, as crazy as this sounds, won't be a horrible place. So long as it's on the water (you'd still be able to see San Francisco at least) it would still be better than some parking lot in Santa Clara.

And I wasn't even talking about the vote Willie Brown presided over more than a decade ago, I'm talking about Prop G, which just passed in 2008.

Dude, calm. My mistake on the location. Yes, I've been to plenty of games at the 'Stick. Used to have season tickets to both Giants and 49ers there. I still try to make every home game when I'm in town. Notwithstanding my FAIL on the address of Candlestick park, the point I was trying to make is that the stadium is not located in the heart of the City. Granted, that would be a difficult proposal, but the reality is that the 49ers play on the Peninsula, not in the City. Ultimately it's an hour between SF and San Jose and the demographics have significantly changed over the past couple of decades. Santa Clara County is the most logical choice for a new stadium - biggest population, biggest concentration of potential sponsorship dollars, etc. The 49ers have been in Santa Clara for 20 years with the exception of 8-10 days a year when they take the team bus up 101.
"And the stadium is not even located in San Francisco County, so balking at the 49ers moving away from their "proper place" makes no sense, unless you believe their proper place is in Daly City. "

All your points about the move are valid. I agree. I can't imagine traffic to Kezar or to the heart of the city anymore. Waaaay too much politics in SF. Better Santa Clara than ANYWHERE else, thats for sure.

But it doesn't look like your point was to say that the team doesn't play in the heart of the city. It looks like to me that you really thought it was in Daly City. You can't even get to DC from 101. If you woulda said Brisbane I could at least see how thats possible. The city is the city, does it matter where in the city? So its the first exit into SF, that doesn't make it less in the city does it? SF is on a peninsula. Very true. The tip of the peninsula happens to be the city. Enough said, there are more important topics in this thread.

FYI .. Just because popular buzz words are used like "the fact of the matter is" or "the reality is" doesn't make them more true.

My family and I have been season ticket holders since the Kezar days and I have wrongly thought for over 30 years the 49ers were located in South SF. Thanks for the clarification.
