Putting the new stadium is unrealistic, and the last thing I want is to share a stadium with the Raiders, so I'm pissed that they are blocking it from being put in Santa Clara. It's right by the free way and near 49er headquarters. Seems like the best spot to me.

I say thrilled, anything that keeps it out of Santa Clara is good by me. The 49ers belong in San Francisco. And if they are not they should at least be somewhere on the peninsula, with a possible view of the bay. They also need to be somewhere that they can play MNF, and Thursday home games, which it seems will not be possible at the Santa Clara site, all games will be on Sunday afternoons.
Anything but THIS I will be disappointed with...

To be honest, I see that as the most likely outcome of all this, sadly.
Oh gawd this would be the worst thing to happen honestly. I have been a fan for 30 years and I want a new stadium in the Bay Area. Candlestick is actually located in South San Franciso and if you are so tied to the 49ers playing in SF that battle was lost in the 70's when they moved from Kezar.
Frankly, I don't want to lose the 49ers in the Bay Area and when it comes down to it I am not willing to lose the team over 3 second pan showcasing GA.
Build the f**king stadium already and keep the 49ers out of LA. Is this something we can agree on?
And btw, this EPA lawsuit is nothing less than lawyerese at its worst. F**k you Cedar Falls and calling the Yorks cheap is beyond old. Don't get me wrong I miss Eddie dearly. So this goes out to the Yorks,
buy GA from those c**ts (aka Cedar Falls) and build whatever the f**k you want as long as it ends up being a new 49ers stadium.
The 49ers can not move to LA, right? Didn't Schwarzenegger sign an amendment to the City of Industry proposal that would ban them from taking another California team (or maybe just a Northern California team)? I know I've read about it before, and Jed mentioned it again in his weird press release/conference call a few weeks ago, but I can't find the details on Google. Anyone have the info?

I believe that the main reason the 49ers turned to Santa Clara (and now consider Oakland to be their second best option) is the hostile and dysfunctional political environment in San Francisco.
The SF voters already overwhelmingly approved the stadium proposal and financing. And there can't be any realistic lawsuits that would make a difference because the has sole rights to the land for the stadium, where Cedar Fair has leasehold rights to part of the property to be used. And even if there was a lawsuit it wouldn't be a similar situation because the voters already passed it, the financing is already there, and they could get started pretty quickly. If the Cedar Fair lawsuit has any bearing on voter's opinions that could be the difference maker. No lawsuit could derail a vote in SF, it already passed.

Are you talking about the 1997 stadium/mall proposal? The one that passed by the narrowest margin in city electoral history with all the allegations of ballot tampering and voter fraud? The one that provided $525 million for a stadium that today will cost over a billion dollars? The proposal that's been dead as a doornail for 10 years? The one that Lennar has pulled out of and the 49ers say they have no interest in?

I don't see the need to cut up anything. Hunters Point is still viable. They haven't stopped work there just because the team decided to look elsewhere once they got the hint that Newsome and the Liberal Gestapo didn't want them there.
And New Orleans had a history with corrupt politicians?
At least those guys came right out and told you if you want a license or something done in their city it cost $X for the application fee.
These schmucks dance around the issue and try to drum up support from the public to get paid.
This is the MAIN reason I miss Eddie D. Yeah he got busted for paying off the Mayor, but in SF he wouldn't have stood for this crap. He'd basically tell them they OWED it to the team for them having to sit in such a dilapidated turd of a stadium after all the good things they've done for the people. They donate their time. They donate items to be bid on for good causes, many still have ties to the community and this is the thanks they get?
Willie Brown, Diane Fienstein and Newsome should be ashamed of themselves.
I don't want the team to leave SF. I don't give a rats ass if it is in Santa Clara. The helmet does not say SC, it says SF. I've sat in traffic hours upon hours waiting to cross the Gate after concerts and other events. If that's the ONLY reason you want the team to move then shame on you. I get that you want it to be closer to you but so does everyone else.
We have 20 acres up here. They can have it. How does THAT sound? It's not Oakland and it's not L.A. We got LOTS of fans up here that would LOVE to see the team play too. No I'm not giving the team the 20 acres. But damn, when you say you want them close to you because it's close to transportation and to you that's just straight up stingy.
I want you to be close I do. I want to be close I want ALL 9er fans to be close to where the team plays. But I'm sorry that's just ridiculous.
