Vernon Davis never had any off the field problems.

I don't think this has anything to do with Singletary, plus he has only been the HC here (full time) for 1yr. I have to give credit to Nolan (hate to do so) because he brought in a lot of high character guys when he took over.

Duke is just a young guy(at the time) and like all young men who get worked up, don't want to hear what you got to say in the heat of the moment. You let him get his head on straight and THEN you coach him.

I think that people make more of what Duke went through early on than what it really was. But at least Sing drew a line in the sand early and didn't let it get out of hand. Teammates are family. Yeah you butt heads together occasionally. But when the chips are down you got his back and he's got yours.

na i know, im not saying Vernon is stupid for fighting back..im just posting the video to show the coaching difference. Mike Nolan just gave up..and let him go. If that was singletary it woulda been a different case.

but u dont tell ur head coach to "back the f**k off" especially in the NFL

"discipline", in this case referring to lack of distractions caused by arrests or other public drama, professionalism, maturity, may not be the equivalent of a playoff appearance, but its certainly something exhibited by most consistently successful teams.

I agree that we need to cash in on the "talk" that we've been hearing for years, but I think its silly to think that "discipline" is not a part of being a perennial playoff team.

Sorry man that was a dual response post. The bottom was to you and the above the quote barrier was to Niner408.

However, I think that you miss the point. Yeah under normal circumstances you don't tell your HC to BTFO, that was anything but normal circumstances however.

You had Duke and Manny going at it. Manny gets pissed cause Duke kept at him and he threw a punch. Off to the races and then other players tried to step in and pull Duke off and they were wearing white. If the Offense had tried I bet it would have ended better. Instead Duke probably felt that he was in for it an his guard hairs went up.

Now I know that he knew that Coach Nolan was in his ear but he don't know who has his jersey til he looks.

I kinda know what he was goin through cause I'm German/Irish and when my Dander is up I could care less who you are you better not be grabbin at me when I'm in a duster. You may have nothing but good intentions, but I don't know that when I'm preoccupado.

That's all I'm sayin. Sometimes it's best just to let the guy cool off and deal with it later.

You could probably complain about Singletary in many areas, but saying he's just like Nolan just isn't right.
