Should Carr Fall Back a LIttle

Something just came to mind and I had to write about it. WE just picked up Carr, and since that time, I think he's a little overconfident. I mean I love his enthusiasm on wanting to come to our team, but he's jumping way ahead of himself. I re-read what Sing said to him, and if you read the entire article, thats his impression from what Sing said. He wanted to know if his offseason work will matter, and Sing said yeah. I dont think Sing meant i want competition at every spot as a way of him saying yeah ur gonna compete with Smith for the starting job this offseason. If he did, none of you think that would completely break up what the team is trying to do, and continue from that 8-8 last year. That it will also undermind those on offense, that are just getting used to Smith, and look forward to seeing what more he can do. I mean, facts, Carr's proven to not be all that good in his career, I mean he's started a season, but he's been around longer than smith, and a former no 1 pick, and i hear no one talking of Carr. Willis may have said he welcomes him as a teammate, but he never said Willis apologized for what he said. Willis, and even DAvis, specifically are going to bat for their QB. Yeah knock DAvis' words about Smith if you want, but thats the kind of bond you want as a teammate. Someone who has your back, and Carr is the oddman out so far, so he should watch himself as well as his comments, IMHO. He hasnt even thrown a ball, or made any noise for us in camp, yet, you would of swore Sing told him he was the starter, at how he's talking. I just think once again he needs to be careful, and just go with the flow. Just say he cant wait to get an opportunity to start, whenever that may be.

I think he's got exactly the right attitude. If he can push for the starting job it will make everyone better. I also like that the team is being clear that Alex is the starter but has actually brought in someone with the POTENTIAL (obviously unproven potential) to actually push smith for the job and the potential to maybe help Nate Davis develop. I would rather have a guy back there who thinks he can do the job right now than say a Trent Dilfer who came to us at a point in his career where he was happy to play second fiddle to guys who were in many ways worse than his best days. I think Carr will fall off in camp when it becomes apparent that Alex knows the offense way better than he does. But I would be happy to be proven wrong.

what bulls**t did they feed him? they said they will be watching him and his actions matter.

I think Alex is gonna be the starter and if Carr wants to start he is gonna have to out practice and out play Smith in order to start.

The Niners wanted a backup who could get the ball down the field and Shaun Hill couldnt do that. Thats all Carr is here for, is to backup Smith.

Im all for Alex coming out at a pro bowl level but if it's Carr than I'm just as happy. Competition will end when someone wins in the playoffs.

I think he thinks he has a better chance to "succeed" here than with the browns. It's not just about starting. Sure he stands a better chance of being the browns starter. But he played that game in Houston Already and probably views the 49ers as a the best all around team with a SHOT at earning the starting role.

you want your quaterback to be confident. he shows his eagerness to win. THATS A GOOD THING. you should be worried if hes coming in non chalent no care in the world, like when trent dilfer came in. even if carr doesnt start, it sure seems like hes going to push people are him to do better. motivate. be a leader. THATS A GOOD THING.

Two reasons:
1. There is more receiving talent here than with the Browns. Carr mentioned Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis, specifically in his interview. The Browns have no one at that level.

2. He also stated he wanted to play for a team on the West Coast that would be close enough so his family could come and watch him play. In his mind, the only teams that met that criteria were the 49ers and Arizona. NOTE: His family lives in the Bakersfield arean and a brother attends Fresno State.

To add; Carr was a stud in college with every pro team in the league admiring his resume. Unfortunately, his experience in Houston was even worse than Alex Smith's experience with Mike Nolan. Carr is now getting a more realistic chance to play in a decent environment, at the same time as Smith. Interesting juxtaposition...

I want a guy who thinks and proves he's the best man for the job. If that's Alex, then great. If its David then that needs to be ok as well...
