Our safeties seems so susceptible to trick plays such as the fleaflicker. Teams seem to have caught up on it.

And yes, I'd rather re-sign Lawson before Goldson. For all the training camp hype that Goldson had a few years ago, all I see is average play.

You're too kind, imo.

Moving an over aggressive corner who is susceptible to double moves and pump fakes to FS is not a good idea.

I agree. Hopefully Mays will get good enough to play Free Safety. Then, we can move Clements to Strong Safety, draft/sign a good CornerBack. Then, we can give Goldson a tender this offseason and hopefully get a 2nd rounder out of him.

Goldson is having a horrible season
If the Niners had any decent depth behind him I wouldnt be surprised if he got benched

He's losing a ton of money going into his contract year

It is if it's the same mistake. We keep getting drilled on flea-flickers and playaction passes for TD's or huge yardage almost every game.

I think thats how this team coaches though

our safeties are told to come up and stuff the run.
Goldson will be gone after the 2010 season.

His contract demands are real and also unreasonable. His agent will play hardball in the negotiations. Goldson is a good, complementary player, but not an indespensible core player. And he wants indespensible core player money.

The Niners would be best served by increasing PT for Reggie Smith, as the 2010 season proresses, re-habbing Curtis Taylor and looking for an affordable FA replacement (not a rookie) to take Goldson's roster spot in 2011. Mays, Smith. Taylor and Maragos are all very young. The club needs a veteran safety in the mix. Moving Clements to safety MIGHT, repeat MIGHT, be a solution, but both Clements himself and the coaching staff would have to agree on that. Clements contract woud probably have to be re-negotiated downward for him to stay as well.

let em go.
All of you guys calling for Nate Clements to be moved to safety need to understand that you are not playing Madden football.

I totally agree with you. In Madden its so much harder because you have to change it on depth chart.
Just a question:

Is there anyone out there that thinks the problem with our safties is the scheme? They really seem to play very close to the line of scrimmage.
