i hoped he would have been our FS starter as a rookie but now don't even care for him anymore.

I think he he ran after breaking his foot or something and it must not have been fully healed. We should at least try him at FS if we move Goldson or put him at SS. He's more of a FS but I wish we knew more about him before investing a high pick in the safety position.

Under-developed underclassman, with questionable spped, drafted as a "tweener (CB/S). Expected to require an additional year or two of development at the NFL level, due to entering as an underclassman. Frittered away first couple of NFL seasons due to prolonged placement at CB, plus being injury-prone.
Needs to step it up in OTA's and TC or be prepared to join another 3rd round bust, Brandon Williams, in another career, operating the RB (Reggie and Brandon) Barbeque

Reggie Smith's career at this point is very similar to Dashon Goldson. Goldson was drafted in the 4th round and was injured during his first two seasons. The coaches gave him an opportunity in his 3rd season and Dashon produced. We should have a good idea if R. Smith can play after next season.

The difference though is that we regularly heard about Goldson making plays in TC and such. I know it's not worth much, but it is better than nothing.
We haven't heard anything about Smith's playmaking ability at all. I have almost given up on him.

True, there was alot more buzz around Goldson during TC but Smith did play pretty well this preseason before injuries torpedo'ed his season.

Thanks for reminding of Brandon "Fair Catch" Williams. Well in his defense everyone besides the niners knew that was a huge reach. He was projected 5th or 6th round.
