Would the 9ers have 2 offensive lineman (an OG and RT) on the team making more than Staley (our longterm LT)?

My question has to do with option #2. Scotty M. generally doesn't see OG as a position to invest a ton in monetarily either via draft or free agency and that good guards can be found later in the draft or for less than top dollar in free agency. Also, a RT taken at either 13 or 17 will carry a pretty hefty pricetag. My guess would be no, but I'm not sure.

i hate Scot's way of thinking on OG's, there are 2 really good ones available in Evans and Mankins(Depending on the tender). Also Stephen Neal is available.

Im sick of it myself, we need to spend at every position, this drafting and then when they become good/great we let them go, is stupid. We need to retain our top players no matter the position. I hated when we let Smiley walk, it was a dumb move IMO.

this
I dunno the way i see it hes been drafting Guards even with all his statements. Chilo is raw but this guy has crazy potential to be dominant. Everyone seems to forget when seattle picked Hutch, Scott was the head of college scouting. means he was the top guy to suggest burnin a top 20 pick on a guard. If Iupati falls to 17 i really wouldnt be surprised to see him "pull the trigger"

Yep, I could see taking a F/A guard and drafting a tackle in the 1st round. Of course, it's up to McCloughan and Jed to spend the money. Hell, I'd sign Sproles, too...but that's another story.

Joe Staleys contract is built to be Front Loaded, he was a top 5 paid tackle in the league last year. He will be a 49er at least until 2017. Scott McC. spends money on OT...will see if he finally sheds money towards a Guard or not.

we suck at creating an OL. we let Smiley and Kosier leave. oops! we draft Kwame and Baas, we just overpaid for Staley because he doesnt suck. and we have a guy starting who got released by the Raiders.

i would KILL for a guy like Joe Thomas. his career is so painful to watch. one of the most gifted T of his generation, and hes wasting it on the mistake by the lake. i hope for his sake he gets out of there.

im not a college fan, and i havent looked into the draft much, but we need to find a big midwest country boy who knows hes going in the top 5, and skips the draft to go fishing.

Mankins and Evans are available??? The 49ers are not going to pass on Mankins if he's available.

Of course good guards can be found later in the draft, but McGM has invested high picks (Baas #33 in 2005 / Rachal #39 in 2008) and we reached out to Alan Faneca for a visit in 2008, but of course he never made past his visit with the Jets.

McCloughan's actions don't necessarily jive with the theory.

I disagree with you about the niners over paying for joe. It's 6 years 45 million which also there's a lot of factors that could keep him from making all of the money. But jonas was 7 years 36 but this is also a few years before joe redid his and so inflation has to be in account. Also the inflation by the time he get's to the new years he will be an avg paid lt. Really for a solid young lt and has shown great promise and stay's healthier then Glassman Jonas, on a bad team with a bad olinecore in general were lucky he didnt get more.
