yes.....even to a point where it seems that some of you older fans have just given up on the niners because you were so used to winning back in the day

Here is what the younger fans will never get about the Glory Years and the older fans.
We did not just sit back and enjoy the show. Did 81' surprise a lot of us? Hell Yeah. But you have to understand Walsh was a very coveted Football Mind when we got him.
From 1981 on, we were not just watching the net result on the gridiron. We were watching all the necessary moves happen from the top down. The results were not surprising, in fact that were expected.
So, when a fan with this background sees the absence of all the off season procedures, we automatically recognize.....this ain't how s**t was ran in the 80's.....thus we can conclude the results won't be the same as the 80's either.
I think you younger fans mistake that the Golden Years just happened magically and therefore you let yourselves believe the magic can happen in your time as well. Hate to break it to you, but it wasn't magic, it came from off season management that runs circles around the Yorks

Well said. We just went through the Joe Thomas fiasco so we were not expecting Walsh and McVay to be so precise in making the right moves. We were waiting for the other shoe to drop, because of previous regimes, but after awhile we began to expect that any weaknesses would be addressed and they usually were.

To be spoiled you have to win. Since '99 this franchise hasn't done much of that. Or made any moves that makes any sense. We were extremely spoiled in 80's and 90's. We were so spoiled back in those days that other franchises and fans couldn't stand the 49ers or the fan base. Not winning a game by 30 and not winning the Super Bowl was considered a disappointment and not up to par with the franchise standards. Then the Yorks happened and it all went to hell.

Spoiled? lmfao Ok... we have only won 1 championship over the last 20 years. Ask Boston Celtics fans prior to their 2008 Championship if they were spoiled.

there glory years and are at least competitive in a very tough division.
We've chosen some horrible HCs and front office personnel, and I realize it takes time to recover. However, this year I would hope that we don't make the offensive
gameplan swings that we have over the past couple of years. Maybe have the same OC (whether you think he is asleep alot or not) and some good O-Line coaches will make a difference. When you couple that with the fact that we have 4 draft choices in
the top 100 draftees, if we don't screw that up we should make the leap.
I am not one to suscribe to the theory that the Cards loosing Warner, and the Hawks
and Rams rebuilding should let us rest. Until our entire division becomes stronger we
won't get any respect from the rest of the league, even if we win our division.
Ditto!!!
At one point we were spoiled and deservedly so. We were perhaps the most educated, passionate and demanding fans in the NFL. Now the fan base has degenerated into jersey purchasing, ”beast” anointing, hype powered lemmings grasping at straws and holding onto anything that the front office can shove into the red and gold (coaches and players included). No, we are not spoiled anymore... We are way to obscured, fractured and ordinary too be spoiled. Even if we win it all now or in the near future the fan base will not be what is was and perhaps it was spoiled but now it’s just a shame.

No doubt. If anything I see too much complacency from fans these days with every single year saying, "give it time, they are still in process of building something"
News flash - this is the team they built over the last several years.
