here is a comment from PFT about the Bears interest in Peppers.
"Technically, the Bears aren't allowed to comment to anyone, publicly or privately, about their interest in Peppers or any other player whose contract has yet to expire. And if the league actually cared about tampering (other than when the 49ers do it), the league employee who has broken the news might have an awkward moment or two in the biggest office at 280 Park Avenue."
Difference being he was using someone as a comparison vs. stating out right that they are targeting that individual...

Yes this is true!
But, McC. Didnt mention Daunta Robinson's name in this release, the writer stated Robinson's name as an example of who the 49ers may target.
if not tampering, then dangerously close for a guy that has already been docked picks
Tampering only works if there was contact with the player and/or agent...

not true. expressing interest in a player without any contact still constitutes tampering.

Most GMs and coaches don't even want to mention players under contract just to be safe but McClaughan's another story. Still, it's not tampering unless you're making contact with the player or his agent while he is under contract.
That said, I thought Robinson was going to be released anyway.

Not worried. Texans already said they weren't franchising Robinson. He's a free agent. And it's not like he's negotiating anything behind the scenes.

He said he'd love to have someone like, say, CB Dunta Robinson if Robinson reaches free agency. But he wouldn't sign him when his own marquee players needed new deals." from MB's blog
I thought he would have to be released or receive permission to speak with other teams until march 5th when free agency starts. right now, i don't think it is permitted for other GMs to express interest in players that are not free agents. Houston has exclusive negotiating rights.
This thread is pointless. He said he'd love to have someone LIKE Dunta Robinson IF he reaches free agency, but he WOULDN'T sign him because he needs to extend our own marquee players.
How does this remotely constitute tampering. Please read the PDF file above before you start a thread. General expression of interest is NOT tampering.

You guys are obviously not attorneys. "He said he'd love to have someone like, say, CB Dunta Robinson if Robinson reaches free agency"
like Dunta Robinson, not specifically Dunta Robinson. Case closed.

ok smart guy, i read the pdf. obviously you didn't.

before you post a comment about what someone should do, maybe you should do that same thing yourself. any you say my thread is pointless, wow

and I quote :
" Public/Private Statements. Any public or private statement of interest, qualified or unqualified, in another club’s player to that player’s age or representative, or to a member of the news media, is a violation of this Anti-Tampering Policy. (Example of a prohibited comment: “He’s an excellent player, and we’d very much like to have him if he were available, but another club holds his rights.”)"
