the poll isnt asking whos the best 1 ring "super bowl performance" guy, its asking whos the best all time 1 ring QB. manning is going to finish his career as the all time leading passing yds and tds leader. i dont really see how he isnt number 1...

Well to me the title of "best" should be given to the player who wins in the post season. You can have all the passing REGULAR season records, but it doesn't mean anything next to playoff success. I like how Steve pointed out very clearly that they were giving the title of GOAT to a .500 post season QB and choker. I much rather have a guy like Kurt Warner, Steve Young, or Drew Brees instead.

Kurt Warner's lost 2 Super Bowls as well. Say what you want but if he doesn't throw that pick at the goal line they win that Super Bowl. If he doesn't throw that pick against New England they win as well.

Outside of one criticial mistake Peyton was great. And as much as people are criticizing Manning that pick wasn't all on him. It's Wayne's job to cut off the receiver and he didn't even come close to doing that.

Manning's an incredible regular season QB but yall have to admit he has a bit of a history of choking in the playoffs.

are you serious?

I have Brees 11th...what the heck has he done besides win this SB and having a couple big passing yardage years?

ever heard of Johnny Unitas? Manning, Favre, Unitas, Thiesmann, Namath, Dawson are all better than Brees hands down.

I believe a lot of the young zoners are just using stats to compare quarterbacks. In the 2009 season TEN quarterbacks threw for over 4,000 yards, the numbers are getting inflated as the rules favor the offense, not because the average QB is better than those 30 years ago.

And yet Warner had a MVP type performance in all 3, and has thrown for the most yards ever in all of them. If he even remotely had a defense, he might have won it again last year. Manning on the otherhand had very Alex Smith like stats during his SB win. Outside of the second half of the pats game, and the Jets game this year, I can't recall a time when Manning stepped it up to his regular season level and won.

If Brees does the same thing, would everyone be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt? It's funny how if Manning won, he gets all the credit, but reversed since he lost. Brees outdueled him, plain and simple. In 4 years, he's thrown for over 5000 yards without a 1000 yard WR, and in his two post season runs with the saints, he's gotten them to the NFC championship game and a SB win (and no INT during the entire playoff run). You can't tell me Brees had the better team either going into this as the Colts were the favorites, and like Manning, Brees makes his team.

I voted Unitas 1. Brees 2. and Steve 5. Steve is not a One Ring QB. I know, technicalities but still.

dude you have to give the cb credit for making a great play for reading that play. he baited manning into that & wayne didn't run the correct route just like he said. that wasn't all manning.

sorry bud but check the stats:

colston 09:1074 in 07: 1202 in 06: 1038

I had him on my fantasy teams those yrs.

why the colts were the favs: Manning, Super Bowl Experience. Only Favs in Vegas, but in the football world the Saints where the favs. Why? Brees has more & better targets than Manning. Think about it:
Manning has: Addai, Wayne, Clark. that's it. Garcon & Collie are unproven

Brees has: Thomas, Bush, Colston, Shockey, plus his 2nd & 3rd wr's moore & henderson are more experienced than Collie & Garcon.

Minus one play Peyton Manning had a MVP performance yesterday too. That's the thing about these games. One mistake will beat you and both Manning and Warner made those mistakes in the Super Bowl. Perhaps if Warner didn't make those mistakes early he wouldn't of had to throw the ball for 400 yards because they wouldn't have been down 10+ points in each of those games.

You're seriously underrating the Saints. They went 13-0 for a reason. They have a very talented offense with Pro Bowl players like Colston and Shockey, and yes their talent is equal to the Colts. They have a better line, better rushing attack, superior secondary, and their defense did not have the key injuries that Indy's had. Freeney was at 50% and Indy lost both of their top corners and Bob Sanders to injury during the season. The reality is Indy's defense wasn't tested at all in the postseason because they played the two worse offenses of all 12 playoff teams.

You're talking about a team that held Peyton Manning to three real plays in the 2nd quarter, and Peyton literally went 71 minutes between pass attempts.

It's always easiest to recall recent events. Also, depends who you ask and grading scale. Not to say Manning doesn't deserve to be near the top, but #1? Really?
You people get way too offended when someone says that a 49er isn't the best at something.
TRENT DILFER on the list? seriously? LOL

anyway.. a lot of those qb's are before my time.. so i just went with this list

1. young
2. favre
3. p manning
4. warner
5. brees

He did until he choked. Brees did not, which is why he won yet another game.

I'm not underrating the saints at all. They were good, but the majority agreed the colts were superior on the offensive side, and that there was no way an opportunistic D like the saints had would be as prolific as they were as in the vikings game. Yes, Freeney was hurt, and Bob Sanders wasn't there like every other year, and yet the Colts still had a chance to tie it and go into overtime. The table was set for the colts to take it, but they couldn't do it. Shouldn't a QB as hailed as Manning be able to march them down? He had plenty of time, and the saints do not have a lights out D. The point is Brees did what he had to, and Peyton and company coughed up 6 during the most crucial part of the game. If a QB is going to get all the praise in a win, he should get all the blame in the loss too. It was his INT that lost it after all.

so what your saying is, Dilfer is better than Marino because he won a ring?

postseason performance is big, but if you dont have the right guys around you, you wont have a chance to perform to that level, or maybe even make the playoffs. its not a foolproof way of deciding who was better than who.

also, i cant beleive how many people on this thread are ranking Drew Brees top 5. just because hes currently a top 3 QB who just won a ring, its like his perceived value is super inflated. Drew Brees isnt even a top 10 one-ring QB yet.

some of these guys on the poll are HOF qb's who had full, great careers. maybe when its all said and done Brees has a better career, maybe not. right now, hes hardly done anything yet in comparison.

1 post season doesn't define a career but when it's all said and done Brees will be right up there. Plus in his 3 playoff games this year he beat 3 guys on that list (Warner, Favre and Manning). In the next 5 years there could very well be talk of Brees being up there with those guys.
