I think Alex has had enough paper knowledge and he doesn't need anymore. Just let the guy get back to bending his knees and playing football.

Look at the games when he first came into the HOU game. His legs were nicely bent and he used his legs' power to make some damn good throws. Later in the year, at times, he resorted back to his straight front leg.

I agree. Alex said in a recent interview that he is thankful for not having to learn another offense. He says his goals this offseason are to work on his mechanics (which he hasn't had much time to do throughout his career), timing with the WRs, and to have more of an imput into the 49ers offense.

Smith hasn't had time to work on his mechanics? How many years... and you can do the footwork and lots of other stuff even with your arm in a sling.

Knowing the offense? How long does it take to learn Raye's twelve plays?

Input makes sense, he kind of did that when they petitioned Raye to give up the smashmouth farce, after only how many games......?

Timing is indeed something you need to be healthy to do and now he knows who the receivers are.

One way or the other, please. Either be real good or suck so badly that there are no more chances and the team can look to Davis or someone. The worst situation would be for Smith to just almost kind of be sort of ok and the team would have to deal with this for yet another year, and next year, and....

How can you work on mechanics when you're trying to learn an entirely new system? An NFL playbook is thicker than the bible. They all have different terminologies for every single route and play. Basically every NFL playbook and playcaller is unique.

I agree that Alex needs to be more assertive so the offense is taylor made to his strengths. In fact, I remember reading somewhere that Sing was waiting for Alex to do just that and he didn't until he was basically forced. However, I do not think we'll see as much of the shotgun as everyone wants. In fact, the only reason we went to the gun last year was due to the fact that our line was high school quality at best. But I do think we'll be spreading it out and running more out of a single back and even an empty backfield.

Was it the line, or the fact that Alex cant function when taking snaps from under center? see Tim Tebow (Senior Bowl).

Some people evidently are expecting a magical new line manned by the biggest, fastest, strongest and most motivated players in the league.

Really, what are the chances of that?

Put poor Smith back in the smashmouth, even alone in the backfield! God, when will the Smith haters ever stop. Now they want him killed.

I don't believe Raye's playbook is exactly biblical in any sense. Well, maybe the parts about plagues and stuff.
