They are frankly just above average in my opinion. People tend to forget we got burned in some major plays by our secondary. It doesn't all fall on the lack of a decent Safety. I personally think our CBs are slow and do not scare any WR in the league one bit.

1.Spencer
2.Clements
3.Brown
4.Bly
I think we need to spend at least a 3rd round pick on a CB, we need some young talent to groom as a future starter, I dont know if Bly or Walt will be in a 49ers uniform next season, but I am hoping we add some youth at CB

I disagree completely....our cb's are better than almost any teams in the league right now. With Spencer, Clements and Brown Bly the only teams that have better cb's as a unit are PHI, GB, TB, NYJ.
Also we play against better qb's and wr's than a lot of other teams that have "top rated" cb's. Another reason why we are not rated better against the pass is because NOBODY can run on us. So they pass and pile up the yards every so often. Look at Peyton. 300+ yards but no td's.
Nobody is scared of our CB's???????????????
Try Warner and Manning 2 of the very best qb's in the game

A lot of our sacks we had this year were coverage sacks.
I remember many times our CBs holding the WRs in check for over 4 seconds and getting burnt bc our pass rush wasnt getting pressure.
Especially the Favre play where he had like 7 seconds

I know, most have Clements at #2 and Brown at #4. But I see Brown as a real up and comer.. great agility and speed.. he is only improving, that's why he took Nate's starting job last season.
If Clements will restructure, and if Harris can still play, I say keep'em all. But hey, if Joe Haden falls to us in the draft, we should take him and let the chips fall where they may.
Nate missed a few tackles it happens when you have an aggressive cb and with lack of safety was a big help. By the time godson showed up nate was injured you don't put an 80 million dollar man back to return punts that's just asking for a injury.

I strongly disagree. The stats don't lie, we have given up way too many passing yards. Don't blame it on the pass rush or the safeties... our CB's are a big part of the problem. Spencer is a solid #2. Brown is a solid #3. But unfortunatly we don't have a shut down #1 CB. Clements is not playing nearly well enough. He is simply too slow to hang with the faster WR's. If we are going to stick with Clements at CB, then we must have some awesome safeties to play behind him.
Solution, spend one of our first rounders on a game changing safety that can start right away (there are a few in this draft), and a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a CB to groom for the future.

Really? I would say our CBs fall well shorter than the few teams you selected. Raiders, Pats, Titans and the Saints have better units than us. The CBs are not effective enough and worst of all they can't match the speed of the WRs. They can close space and they are physical but they often lose footraces too soon.
I'm not being a hater for a reason. I just watched a team fall way short in an area were we have made some poor decisions. A huge contract for a player that has never lived up to it and a head scratching bunch of draft picks have made this an average unit. They are not ridiculously bad but they just are not all that good.
I think we have needs and I would like to see more interest in upgrading the CBs and Safety.

The 4 teams that i listed have better cb units.
As for the Raiders????? They have 1 shut down cb and then????????
The Pats????? you are joking right. Their best cb would be #3 on our team.
Titans? Comparable but we have the better 3rd and 4th cb not to mention our #2 is better than theirs. Maybe Finnigan is better than our #1 but that's highly debateable.
Saints? Another joke right? They are laughable. Got tourched all year. They are not even close on cb's. They do have a better safety but since the topic is cb's, the Saints are a lot worse.
I know you are not trying to be a hater but try to realize that our cb's AS A UNIT are very good and just because Clements is "slow" and can't cover the fastest wr's in the league, DOES NOT mean we need a new cb. Clements shuts down almost every wr he has ever faced. (owens and White were the only 2 that come to mind)
