Maybe Paraag is just part of the process to help Jed with the contract. I mean what could that clown possibly know about Football and coaching.

This would by my question too. I keep hearing complaining about Paraag but I've never seen anything concrete where he had anything to do with a decision made about the 49ers.

2005:
In fact, personnel only consumes a quarter of his duties, Marathe said. Most of his time is spent on salary-cap analysis.

Nevertheless, Marathe was asked by York to lead the head-coaching research, and his profile skyrocketed.

Marathe studied 120 coaches to determine where the most successful NFL coaches come from, and what makes them excel once they have the job. Along with other factors, Marathe discovered that coaches who were with successful teams and worked with winning coaches made the best future coach.

2008:
What's Marathe's role in the franchise if Singletary sticks around? Good question. Always a great question. Nobody ever seems to have a credible answer.

I get some people mad when I keep bringing up Marathe. OK, he is a smart, smart guy. But if you want to know the single name that arises most from former 49ers employees–and there are MANY–it's Marathe, because he's considered an untouchable Friend of Jed and meddles in all aspects of the franchise, business and football.

Does Singletary want Marathe meddling in all aspects of the franchise? Does he want him in the coaches' box during games? Is Marathe still the main voice for challenges in there? I don't knpw–you have to say things have been going better in that respect recently.

2015:
Also, 49ers president Paraag Marathe will play a big role in Tomsula's transition to calling the shots from the sideline. Years ago, Marathe devised a game-management guide that includes such information as when to call timeouts while trailing late in a game and whether to kneel or run plays while protecting a lead. Marathe has constantly re-worked his formulas.

He is the everything guy in football operations and he has been for at least 8 years.

So he is the Sheldon Cooper of Football. Formulas and Big Bang Theory.

From the 49ers own web site

PARAAGMARATHE
Chief Strategy Officer & Exec. VP Of Football Ops

Paraag Marathe (puh-rawg, muh-RAH-tay) is in his 16th year with the 49ers, and first as Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President of Football Operations. Marathe is also a Managing Partner in the investment entity created by the York Family.

On the team side, Marathe reports directly to 49ers CEO Jed York and has a significant role in major strategic decisions for the club as Chief Strategy Officer. He also continues in his long-respected role as the team's chief contract negotiator and salary cap architect, while overseeing the team's football analytics department.

So in addition to everything he has done in the past (head of analytics, chief contract negotiator (isn't that done by the GM in most teams?) and salary cap architect he is now Chief Strategy Officer ON THE TEAM SIDE, NOT JUST THE BUSINESS SIDE.

Now how many other teams salary cap architect sits in the coaches box during the games?
How many other head of analytics, also negotiates contracts and is the salary cap architect? On most teams those roles are split and report to the GM.

A formula to search for a GM and a Coach. We are in trouble. You can manipulate formulas to your liking. It's like having a home owners association president without any by laws. Let's make it up as we see fit to our liking.
can the new gm fire this guy?

Seems like it. I hope we get a GM and a coach with a strong personality, but looking at his formula our next coach and GM will resemble Pinocchio.

Baalke had a strong personality, but he was more of my way or the highway. He was also on board with the Paraag Equation and implemented it like it was supposed to be done. IT DID NOT WORK OUT!!!

Hopefully.the banners next year will.have this guy's name on it
Top of the food chain...highest paid...everyone reports to him...does whatever he wants...never has to come to a presser to take accountability for it.

Best job in America.
