Brown could put on the pads and in a month be better than Baas

I agree with you. I've said in the past/present that Rachal is really a 3rd. Guard who's best days are ahead of him, but he shouldnt be starting now. We should get a veteran/tutor/mentor for him and let him rotate/learn this year and start in 2011.. Bass spends too much time off da field (hurt), and too much time stuffed/on da ground, while on it. He can be easily upgraded or relegated to backup duty.

I think they can be salvaged and Brown being a former 8th round pick probably didn't have as much raw talent as either player. Baas' biggest problem are injuries and not establishing chemistry with his fellow linemen. Even Snyder can be salvaged. He used to be great as a depth player at one point.

IMHO, the entire line regressed this season and I have no doubt that was because of Foerster. If Solari and Brown approach the OL with the same technique McKittrick used to turn other players into great lines, I'm just giddy over the possibilities.

I with others have been calling for this change for a long time and it would seem Singletary agreed somewhat. I still don't believe the "official" story that Foerster left on his own accord. They were talking to Solari before Foerster officially "resigned". The hire of Brown as an assistant I think confirms this.

Let's hope Singletary continues to bring in former players. I would just fall out if Rice decided to coach the receivers. I think the board would go into immediate nirvana.

Given Singletary's propensity for honesty and Christian values, I sincerely doubt he lied about what transpired. As a matter of fact, you can hear the determined delivery of his response about Foerester. I believe that Singletary was resigned at the fact that he was keeping Foerester for continuity and had to let Solari go once again.

Then Foerester pleaded to be with family, a core value for Coach Singletary and let him go to the Redskins. This says it all:

“It’s really interesting how it happened. Mike Solari is a guy who, when I was interviewing for head coaching jobs around the league, he was my No. 1 guy. The fact that I would be able to get him at this juncture and how this happened is really amazing. I think it’s a win-win situation. When I talked to Chris this morning, I just told him that I believe things work out for a reason. I told Chris this morning, best of luck to you, and I hope everything goes well. I had an interview set up with Mike Solari and my wife and I felt like that would be – everything would work itself out.”

Mike Singletary wasn't sneaky or manipulative. He was blunt and honest as always to the point he even called Foerester to tell him we got Solari and the Redskins got you and everything works out for a reason.

As far as Brown and Solari, I know you and many have been calling for Solari with great reason. Now with Brown to assist, I can see further development with our own squad and the newbies that come in.

IMO, we will finally have a formidable OL at the beginning of the season with some great depth! It will be fun to watch Solari and friends work their magic!

Go 49ers!

I apologize I didn't mean to imply that "he lied" I'm just saying the version we were given may have "edits". As much as Singletary is a Christian, we don't get the full story (through the media) and that's not always a bad thing. It wouldn't be the first time Singletary has said something publicly and it changes a bit. For example "I believe Shaun Hill gives us the best chance to win." I'm not trying to ping him on this at all. I think this is a BRILLIANT move, but there are some things we aren't privy to.

Agree!

Still man, isn't this just almost too good to be true especially for you because I know how high you and others were on Solari. That is so awesome especially given the first three picks we have where we could score on two OLs, Iupati and a ROT! Two rookie to start.

If anyone could do it, it looks like Solari has the skills and experience to do it. We would have one of the youngest most formidible lines in the NFL:

Staley--Iupati--Heitmann--Rachal--Williams/Bulaga and have depth in

Sims--Baas--Wallace/Baas--Wragge--Snyder/Boone (I hope he makes more ground)

Seriously, dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmn!

I would say that Snyder and Baas are beyond salvage. They're now in the scrap heap pile. Baas will likely stay because he's a RFA.

I'll take Baas as a backup, but I really want to see a rookies starting at LG and RT.

If not, and we still have the same o-line struggles, i'll jump on the "Fire McCloughan" bandwagon.

I think all of our guys have talent. Just needed better coaching on technique and such. One of the first things Solari mentioned was fundamentals so he must have seen something over the years of playing against us.

I hope you're right, Baas has started 38 games in his career but I haven't seen much from him that would say that he's a long term starter. Maybe Solari and co. can turn him around but I personally have my doubts.

I do too bud. I just know that coaching can be a huge difference too.

I'll be jumping on as well.

If no new CBA, they'll be able to keep Baas at a bargain price. If Singletary drops the stupid "nutcracker" drill (and he will) then maybe Baas doesn't hobble through the first half of the season on a bad foot.

If Solari convinces them to stop trying to fatten up their linemen like beef cows in order to satisfy someone's idea that big fat linemen can "impose their will," and let Baas lose a few pounds for greater agility, he'll be JUST FINE! and way better than a rookie Iupati. Baas is very strong and a hard worker, biggest challenge is can he get out in front of the RB fast enough to spring the play?

They will definitely take a OT high in the draft. Probably were aiming to take Michael Oher last year, but Crabtree unexpectedly was on the board. Oher was a good one, but there will be some good ones this year too.

As a backup, I'd like if Pashos recovers and is available to play. It's scary how they had to again depend on Barry Sims, not sure he can turn in another clutch performance like last year.
Bench Baas, and cut Snyder completely, Rachel is young and full of potential (we all saw it during his rookie year, bad off-season fundamentals/lack of discipline from Foerester, and horrible communication ruined his sophomore gig).

We're gonna see an entirely different line next season, these guys are going to be imposed into carrying a nasty attitude on the line, with the right information as to where to place their hands, legs, and ears on the snap count/bodies of the defensive threats (none of those atrociously predictable bulls**t plays where Heitmann puts his head up 2 times so the defense knows when the ball is being snapped).

And don't be surprised if Cody Wallace and Alex Boone make cameos as starters throughout the regular season. -Definitely Cody Wallace, Nolan f**ked up big time handing that guy over to Warhop during the earliest of his career, so Solari will set him straight.

That would be great to see. I dunno if Wallace has what it takes, but if he does, hopefully Solari will get it onto the field for a change.

Alex Boone was one of my faves and I'm glad he's stuck around, but he's got to show that he can react quick enough to handle speed rush or he's a no-go.

Solari's got more to work with here than he had in Seattle. I want MAGIC!

Alex Boone has so much potential!

We absolutely should draft a RT, Trent Williams or Bulaga. However, McC may try to make things work (again) with Pashos, Snyder and Boone possibly being ready to play.

If we can draft Iupati we will be able to make the running game work and protect the QB. I think Baas has had plenty of chances and is a big disappointment.

If this happens an McC says let's not get a tackle i hope sing moons him and slips his draft card to Solari to run up to make the pick for rt... I'm sorry snyder doesn't have the feet for tackle and im not sold out on boone not getting into trouble...

Draft Williams/Davis/Bulaga at #13 and take Iupati at #17 and we don't have to worry about the OL for the next 10 years! Do it Scotty, do it man, for the love of god, do it.

Do remember, McKittrick style linemen were on the lighter side with more athleticism and footwork. Baas, as well as a few others might have a different kind of conditioning progam this offseason.

I hear you on that one. With the coaching moves it brings a new breathe of life. I hope Sing keeps it up with the final additions in F/A and the draft.
