WHERE WERE ALL THESE ENVIROMENTALIST WHEN PAC-BELL WAS BEING BUILT?

SF OR SANTA CLARA IT DOSNE'T MATTER TO ME. AS LONG AS THE NINERS STAY IN THE BAY AREA. AND WE NEED A NEW STADIUM BAD...

Jacksonville's fans have literally checked out. they dont give a crap about the team. Jax is a much smaller market with the NFL's smallest fanbase, and they dont give a crap? sounds moveable to me.

i just cant see Goodell allowing a franchise like the 49ers to move to LA, even if we wanted to. the NFL makes ALOT of money off the "San Francisco 49ers" name. its one of the 10 most legendary teams in the sports history.

"too storied a franchise"? "too strong a fanbase"?

That's what they said about Modell's Browns.

Seriously, the move to LA is looking more and more likely with each passing day.
Not from San Fran so I can't call what's the climate out there but it's always been a mystery to me how the Giants got a new stadium and haven't won anything. While the niners have 5 super bowl rings play in the oldest/worst stadium in all of sports. is it the folks out in SF just don't have that overall football passion? Or just all this side s**t I'm reading about. I live in Dc and as much as folks are upset about the Skins every fan, and political pundit would be all for a new skins stadium b/c that;s how passionate folks are here about football.

The Giants got a new stadium by paying for it themselves.

To the guy that says SF is filled with Socialists, you are insane. Do you even know what socialism is? Would subsidized stadium funding be considered Socialism?

I live in SF, just near Kezar stadium, and can say that there is plenty of 49er energy in the city. While most of you may hear about some strange bill that might get passed, you don't realize that S.F. has a very large old school resident population. These are families that have lived in the city for many many years. While the crazy-right wing morons (see above) think the city is filled with hippies or homosexuals, they don't realize that they are a very small part of the total population. AND, there is nothing wrong with hippies or homosexuals. When it is all said and done, the citizens of SF love the 49ers, and every bill that is put on the ballot passes. The area in question (Hunter's Point) is huge, it is toxic, and it is right in the middle of the worst ghetto in the city. It is not easy, and it will take a while, but it will be built in SF, right where it should be. The stupid Santa Clara idea is just another in a long string of York Senior ideas that have been ruining the 49ers (beginning with Erickson.) Hopefully Jed will have the balls to do things right and build the San Francisco 49ers stadium where it should be built, in San Francisco.

The Santa Clara deal won't fall through either (seeing that the new stadium's parking limitations will prevent them from airing a primetime game there = NFL revenue killer/zero backing from Goodell for economic support).

So the only option at this point would be to plan a complete renovation of the stick (which would be a so/so but okay plan), and it'd be worth it if (god forbid) we'd have to share a stadium with the Raiders for a year (in the process).

Hunter's Point is a toxic dump, and Great America is a hot ground for lawsuits and angry Santa clara locals (mainly made up of angry old 'community-nazis'). -Renovation is the only real solution, and we'd probably get more than enough money/clearance from the Mayor/NFL to do it.

You are renovationg a dump. That stadium is old junk. Time to start over. Just knock it down and start over with a new one. Maybe play the games for 2 years at Stanford stadium or something.

i expect SoCal to build a new stadium before anything gets built in the Bay Area, just 'cos they're slightly less left-wing (well LA @ least, i know OC & SD are more 'conservative' politically). if i'm not mistaken, LA is close to building one in one of their sprawling suburbs (it helps that some rich investor is pretty much footing the bill). the chargers might be enticed to move there, or hopefully al davis takes his sorry franchise back south and they'll be no more jinx on Bay Area sports (raider jinx started in 1995), plus there won't be the risk of the Niners having to share a new stadium with the faiders.

The stadium in LA will be built in the City of Industry, south east of downtown LA which is a far cry from suburbia. Lots of homeless and gang activity.

The proposed stadium site is not at all close to downtown LA. I don't recall a gang problem near where the 57fwy and 60 fwy meets. (Which is where the stadium in LA will be). Hopefully we get the Chargers there and the 49ers get a new stadium in Santa Clara. I prefer the idea of the Hunters Point waterfront project but I realize that we'll probably be here 13 years from now still waiting on that.
