The day I am satisfied with being 8-8 is the day I will stop being a sports fan.
Welcome to the modern era of 49er fans, where everyone is a "hater" if they don't think 8-8 is totally awesome.

At least we didn't totally suck. Yay. Pass the kool aid over here!
No, .500 is for chumps.
No, any time we miss the playoffs I'm not happy about it.

However, I am encouraged that with better offensive line play and some general continuity on offense, along with more consistent QB play (which I believe will happen because of the continuity), we can and will be a playoff contender next season and for the foreseeable future.

So you'd rather see us have a losing season?

8-8 is a step in the right direction. We'll have to see if next year we can go 10-6 and take the next step to the playoffs or trip and fall to 6-10.
Did we have a winning season?

There's your answer.
I'm glad they went 8-8 b/c i refused to buy any team merchandise until they at least had a .500 record I'm ordering my Willis jersey on Friday. I understand the folks point who aren't happy with 8-8 but to be honest how great did you think this team was gonna be this year? did you see the o line 8-8 is a miracle. all the other teams wiht wack o line are drafting in the top 5.
Nope, I don't consider "Not Losing" anything to get excited about,"I Want Winners!"

5-1 against NFC West teams is progress

3-7 against other NFC and AFC teams is not progress.

Am I happy? Yes about the first point, no about the second point. Lukewarm overall.
Well whether we're happy or not, 8-8 is as good as it gets with the Yorks as owners. It's been over 10 years since they took over and they still haven't figured out it takes smart football people in the front office to win in this league. We go through every offseason with the same weaknesses that never get addressed. Not having a losing record in '09 doesn't mean sh*t. Wins don't carry over into the next season. A promising 7-9 in '06 didn't get this franchise anywhere.
This isn't freaking golf. Taking 5 years to break even in the NFL sucks balls. Why am I upset at 8-8? Because this team's coaches keep making the same dumb in-game decisions they have made since 2005. The Rex Ryan's of the league actually undrstand game situations which is why they aren't the reason their teams lose a few games a year. Our coaches keep bumbling during games and it has cost us evey year. Who's to say it's going to change with the same damn coaches who don't understand squat when it comes to Offense and Defense.
I for one am not satisfued with 8-8 because the team could do much better with an upgraded QB. The defense can hold it's own this year but the offense is still very anemic.

THe reason I am not satisfied is because the team has done nothing to adress the QB position since 2005. Trent Dilfer...Shawn Hill...JTO...come on. It is called having too much faith in something that IMO just isn't gonna cut the mustard. This is now a QB driven leage and here we go o-line o-line o-line...

I do enjoy watching good football games and good QB play so I always watch the playoffs regardless.
