I don't think what happened was fair to Mora and the way the Hawks went about it was shady. They didn't fire the guy on black monday and even allowed him to give a team press conference later in the week while the CEO was talking with Carroll. The whole situation should have been handled better.

That said, I am not disappointed Mora is gone. As the season went on I liked him less and less. His press conferences were annoying as was his post game show he did each week. It was also obvious that the team gave up on him. We got blown out more this year than in any other year. Even though we had a worse record the year before we were more competative. Even with all the o-lineman on the IR by the end of the season and signing recievers off the street while Matt sat the bench with injuries. Mora was not good for the Seahawks.

As far as Pete Carroll goes, I have no idea what to think. He was 33-31 as a pro head coach. All the players that played for him in the pros that I have heard inerviews with thought he was an excellent coach. Drew Bledsoe even said that reason the Pats got worse each year with Carroll was because of the organization not utilizing the draft properly and spending too much money in Free Agency.

All I can do is hope the guy is better this time around and throw my support behind him. Ten years is a long time to be out of the NFL so he isn't going to be the same coach that he was back then. Hopefully thats a good thing for the Seahawks.

As an SC fan I can assure you of this. In 10 years the Man has not matured at all. He is more of a Boys Man than a Mans Man if that makes any sense

Agreed!

Feel like he knew SC was in trouble and bailed.

He is a GREAT College coach, and an average Pro coach - his strengths are in recruiting good talent and a creating/maintaining a rah-rah environment. Doesn't translate to Sundays.

IMHO.
This is one of the better threads to hit the zone in a while.

Solari could be the most crucial signing that Sing ever makes as HC of the niners. He coached probably the best OL of this decade in KC. He has to like the fact that on account of youth, most of our OL has not reached its full potential yet.

LOVE IT
he better be able to choose which OT he wants and he better be able to choose in first round

The bottom line is that we need to pick OL in two picks out of the first four, a ROT and another OG to compete and provide better depth.

The O-line coach is perhaps the most important, yet most under-rated positions on the staff. A good coach will have a good deal of input into play-calling and game planning based on their knowledge of what the line can do. Half-time adjustments often are made based on what the OL coach has observed. Walsh always involved McKittrick in all key decisions because if the line cannot block it, there is no point in running the OC's favorite play.

Solari's background and experience should be a great improvement over Foerster/Warhop in all areas.
Oline has more help. Maiocco is reporting that Ray Brown is joining the team as an Assistant Oline Coach.
I think with the addition of Ray Brown, I like the way HC Singletary is buildling this team. This shows that Singletary is focused on how this team plays in the trenches. Everything else builds off of that.

I think we now have good coaches to help the offensive (Solari and Brown) and defensive lines (Tomsula).

Oh you meant, Did Rathman get the job with San Jose State?

He did interview, but didn't get the job. Singletary also said that he doesn't plan on making any additional changes to the 49ers coaching staff, so we're going forward with the coaches we have now. That means Rathman is staying.
Solari and Ray Brown for Foerster and Warhop.. this isn't turning out too bad!

Let's hope Mike Solari is able to bring to bear some of what Bobb McKittrick did for this team back in the day. I also have hope that Singletary is improving. Without being too negative, I'll just say he was raw coming in, on the steep part of the learning curve.. but I think he IS learning and getting better.

Some nice draft picks in a good deep draft.. coaching staff coming together and improving.. continued development of young players.. maybe this is the year the 49ers return to respectability?

How exactly is Singletary improving?
The coaching moves made by Sing is very telling to the fact that he is focused on addressing the teams most glaring need = offensive line...so just based on his actions since appt'd the head coach job...that he is a man of action, adaptable, flexible, demanding, intelligent and intuitive to his job, staff and players....and that's a good thing for the 49er nation.
