I remember mcDuff from the Marriucci days. He left 9ers to join Texas staff as 1 of their D coordinators . He has experience in LB coach and D-Cordinator. Under Mac Duff, the Giants' special teams led the NFL in field goal defense in 1999 and 2000. They also led the NFC in punt returns in 1999, were second in the NFL in blocked kicks and had the best kickoff return average in the past 25 years for the Giants. Kick returner Ron Dixon, a New York rookie in 2000, became the first player in NFL history to return two post-season kickoffs for touchdowns, with a pair of 97-yard efforts against Philadelphia and Baltimore. I gues we can post any other candidates here [ Edited by ziggy_gonna_rock on Jan 9, 2010 at 08:22:47 ]

This is the Niners Man....We hired a defensive minded coach with zero experience after firing a defensive minded coach who had zero experience without interviewing anyone else.

Are you really that surprised??

The 49ers did not fired him. He left the team to become the co-defensive coordinator under Mack Brown at Texas. If I remember correctly, he did a very good job when he was a special team cordinator of the 49ers.

my mistake. i just didnt have any problem with Al Everest. i disagree with his firing, but i guess going behind the coaches back in-game is a bad career move. he wasnt fired for our ST play, which was all great outside the return game.
