I think the verdict is still out on all three. Some people may think '09 was a fluke for VD if he doesn't produce consistently year after year. It's great Lawson had the sacks he did, but I would like to see him meet the "Julian-Peterson-while-he-was-with-the-9ers" potential he's shown glimpses of. And Smith: I think consecutive years with the same OC will do his game and confidence wonders. I do agree with you: I don't think he's played his best ball yet.

All but Alex. He needs to develop his ability to read defenses before he can be a Pro Bowl QB. If your are the first pick in the draft you are a bust if you don't make at least one Pro Bowl.

Busts? No.

the argument that a player is a bust on where they would be taken in a re-do of their draft is shoddy logic. First Alex wouldn't be a 5th round pick in a redo so there's that right off the back, he's a starting quarterback and teams will even take a backup with a 2nd rounder, see Kevin Kolb.

2nd there's just noway of knowing what would happen to any player if they went to another team. What if there was a draft redo and the Packers took Smith and we took Rodgers? Would he be the same qb if he had to start his rookie year? If he didn't inherit a 13-3 team? Maybe he ends up needing surgery the way Alex did?

Too many variables? Imagine if Montana went to Cleveland instead of here, or Young never got to break away from Tampa. Situations dictate so much that's why there is no such thing as a "can't miss prospect", its a crapshoot.

If Alex was a bust, he wouldn't be a starting QB in the NFL, PERIOD. Let alone a starting QB for a team that went .500.

Personally I consider Alex a bust that was salvaged. My instincts tell me we need to upgrade at qb, but ill be patient & hope Alex can improve this being his 1st offseason where he doesn't have to learn a new offense.

When he couldn't beat out Hill for the starting spot there was no question he had become a bust.

The guy was selected #1 overall, he lead an 8-8 team to five wins during his forth year in the league that is no accomplishment for a qb drafted so high.
