It's actually pretty simple actually, a new good QB who's good.

I think we are very, very close. We need to shore up the O-line, pick up an extra DB, have an AVERAGE return game, and give Alex a full-offseason at QB to get his timing down with Crabtree & Co.

5. Pass Rush - We do a pretty good job of applying pressure, despite fan criticism. 11th in sacks, 13th in passes defended, 10th in INTs (the latter two provide a glimpse of the pressure applied). Personally, I think the 3-man pass-rushing platoon works well.

I'm sorry, but a alot of our pressures, sacks, ints came against bad QBs and offenses; StL, Seattles back-up the first game, Chicago, and Detroit

Against good QBs or offenses; Atl, GB, Philly, Indy we gave up too many yds and too much time to the QB. Those 3 of 4 teams are in the playoffs.

Yes we beat Arizona twice, but that's the exception not the rule.

#1-right tackle.....gore ran crazy behind Larry Allen.

#2-Defensive end.....jullius peppers would be nice.

#3-return specialist.....I don't want to see arnaz battle call one more fair catch or muff the punt.

#4-a speedy slot reciever......I think this would help crabs and VD get 1 on 1.

I also think a rotation of Brooks,Lawson, and harlson would be good for our olb position. Spencer and brown have played decent and gained some valuable experience this year. Goldson is starting to come around but I would also like a Eric berry in our secondary. And last but not least ALEX SMITH will have a do or die season next year and I believe he'll play good enough to get us where we want to be......looking foward to the draft. And 2010.

Nah, a competent HC and GM.
To make it to the playoff just rt and return game

to make it far in playoff
1.RT
2.KR/PR
3.LG
4 FS ( move goldson to SS)
Repeatedly talking about what needs to be improved to make the playoffs next year.
Personally I think we have to address the RT position, Snyder is a decent player, but we need blue chip talent at RT and LG if we want to build a strong offensive line, Baas is also a decent player, but we need a mauler with talent to man the LG spot, hopefully they get it done and find two quality lineman.

the same goes for the secondary, I would hope they draft a CB to groom as the #1 corner to play along with Clements, Spencer and Brown...Bly was solid this year, but we need more youth and depth at CB ...finding a SS that can impact the game would be a plus, Roman is on the downside of his career and Michael Lewis is one concussion away from retirement.

So I hope they address these issues during the offseason

RT "starter"
LG "starter"
SS "starter"
CB "player to groom after Spencer & Clements are gone"
WR "a Vet who can contribute from day one, taking pressure of crabtree"

there has been a little talk about T.O coming back, I wouldnt be against it if Singletary explains to him that Davis, Gore and Crabtree are the big 3, and his contribution could give the team a big lift

WR -Crabtree
WR- Owens
WR- Morgan
WR- Jones
WR- Hill .....could be an explosive set of WR's for Alex to throw to, and with that said I hope Alex starts next season, plus Nate Davis will gain another year of experience and will improve his skills.

I hope Shaun Hill is traded to a team that suits his strengths, I'm hoping the Shaun Hill era is over and the F.O finds a younger veteran QB to backup Smith, hopefully a QB thats a strong pocket passer, Jimmy Rayes offense requires the QB to have some arm strength, this wont be a team that will focus on short passes and hope for YAC anymore.

HC? That same HC with a winning record (assuming we beat the Lambs). And uh that GM selected that moron of QB that we currently have. If we had A-Rod, let alone Jason Campbell, we'd be getting ready for a Playoff run. That being said McCloughan has a chance to right the ship by getting a Campbell and or drafting a Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford, etc.

Yo hater, I'll take that pass. But I will hit it and stick with Alex Smith, obviously.

1- OL...specifically, draft Anthony Davis and Mike Iaputi...also re-sign Pashos and sign FA OG

2- Get top pass rusher on the board

3- Draft Gilyard...fills two needs, speedy WR and great KR

4- Draft big RB & speed RB

5- Draft good CB

6- Re-sign or franchise Franklin

I don't disagree with any of this but it seems a lot for one draft!

Aside from the positional issues we need to improve upon (OL etc) the team generally need to improve how they start games on the road.

This season there have been some awful starts to games such as poor game management (use of timeouts etc) mistakes, terrible opening 3 and out series. etc etc

Its a mentality thing and often the slow start has hurt us for the rest of the game.

Agree..... One of the most sickening things to watch this year.........

Hard to win if you can't convert 3rd downs. Direct result of poor Offensive line play.
