the LAST thing this team needs is change. 02-03 offseason, 03-04 offseason, 04-05 offseason, 05-06 offseason, 06-07 offseason, 07-08 offseason, 08-09 offseason, 7 straight years weve changed a coach, an OC, a DC, a GM, etc.

every year this franchise panics and changes it up due to a poor season. all this has done for us is put us in continual rebuilding mode with all new systems to learn. were always stuck in the same rut every year.

heres a thought. DONT CHANGE ANYTHING this offseason. see what you can build on from this year. all the people on this board that pretend to be 49er fans clamoring for a change at coach, a change at OC, a change of ownership, a change of GM, etc, have no idea what theyre talking about.

were in year one of the singletary era. if we break it apart before it hardly gets started, we will end up the same 5-7 win team year after year. this team has shown vast improvement since sing took over last year. the wins havent really came yet, which matters most, but the quality of play, attitude, direction, and fundamentals have taken a drastic improvement. have some patience for crying out loud.

we dont need a new QB, we need to keep the same leader on offense for more than a few games. give our offense a chance to trust and grow with someone. to know who their leader is, and how to gel and get the timing right. throwing nate davis out there is the DUMBEST thing you could do. confuse the other guys about who "the guy" is.

players need continuity, which is where this franchise has failed time and time again for years now. sit down, shut up, and develop the common sense to realize things cant happen overnight.

This team is no physically good enough to get into the playoffs, let alone win a playoff game....change is needed.

Our Coaching staff is repeating stupid mistakes, getting beat by half time adjustments and is not preparing our team to win...change is needed.

Our GM has been here for how many years? And have we made the playoffs once in all those years???...change is needed.

This

Singletary has looked lost in many games and lacks game/clock management.

I think A Smith should get chance to start next season but it's time to get a real experienced HC in here who won't cost us games due to lack of game time experience and knowledge of game situations.

No more changes? Should we have given Nowin 8 more years to prove he =fail? Singletary is Nolan just alittle better (in my opinion)

Fans deserve better it's been too long since we have played a game after week 17

Yes I expected us to lose to Philly but I didn't expect us to hand them the game and "be a charity" with 4 turnovers

change is needed? change to what? a new OC, new coach, new philosophy, new QB? so we can go 5-11, 6-10, or 7-9 some more?

how can you seriously beleive change is needed, when for 7 straight years, weve changed EVERY offseason, and were still stuck below .500.

how about we CHANGE our habits by NOT CHANGING A THING for once.

New HC is all I am calling for...someone with actual HCing experience who wont cost us games due to inexperience, poor game situation/clock/time out management, and overly conservative play. example Vikings, Indi games.
Shouldn't these threads be merged?

Yes, Consistency
I'm now on board with staying the course for 2010. Not that I like everything about the current direction. Far from it. But we just can't keep doing this new HC, new OC, new QB, new GM, new position coaches every single year. I think what this team needs more than anything is some continuity and consistency.

Great comment! Elegant, eloquent, and intelligent.

You got the hat trick!

New OL coach, though. Please!

Oh alright then. But the waterboy stays!
I'm still not convinced Singletary's the answer as head coach...but I'm willing to give him another year to prove he's got what it takes. He's still getting out-coached on a regular basis, and that's after 23 games...not a good sign, so far. I'd also agree to keep Manusky and Raye for another season...because we need continuity in both areas. There will be player changes...and they're needed. OL needs help...Baas is likely not going to be re-signed...SNyder's not the long-term answer at RT. RB corps is in need of more talent...beyond Gore there's not much. Defense still needs a stud pass rusher...what Brooks has shown is encouraging, but we need both OLB's to pressure the QB. Decision time on Michael Lewis due to his concussion issues...is Goldson the FS of the future? If not, maybe he should be the SS and they find another FS somewhere. Need help at CB, too. Then there's the kick returner issue...that's another one that definitely needs fixing. Would love to see management go strong after Joshua Cribbs...might cost a high draft pick, but that would pay two dividends: KR par excellence and also good receiver/wildcat guy.

Don't forget that Reggie Bush may also be available as a PR/KR option.

When was the last time you saw a team change a HC that didnt turn around and fire every assistant coach so he could bring in "his guys"?

Singletary is going nowhere, and guess what, pretty soon he will be seen as a HC with "actual HCing experience". There are several coaches out there that did not do anywhere near as well as Singletary has done in the beginning of their careers, but they turned out to be really good head coaches. Brad Childress, Mike Shanahan, Belichick, etc. all started off pretty poorly. Let's give the guy a chance before calling for his head.
I really hope this consistency thing pans out!

You guys are crazy if you want Singletary replaced. He's done a great job with what he's got and the players play for him. He's the best thing that's happened to this team in a decade.
