Buyer Beware: The Cardinals Game Was A Fluke

I'm not sure whether to laugh, mock them, or simply bar the front door. Somebody must have raided the pharmacy, and the troops didn't get their fix.

Ah, now your just fueling the fire, and unecessarily, I must say... Doesn't that make you worse than the "angry noobs"?

While there is not doubt Frank Gore was an elite back in 2006, there is no way that he is anywhere near the best backs in the NFL anymore. He is not consistent enough weekly.

Once again, for the skeptics, this performance was just one game. A QB who busts out a 400 yard game after throwing for 150 the week before, and averages 225 per game for the season, is not elite. He just had a studly performance.

Everyone knows the offensive line is certainly not very good, but to pin Gore's lack of game-by-game productivity only on the OL is simply not accurate. He is surely not the same back who could make sharp cuts to get into a hole from a few years ago, and seems to have lost his ability to find these same holes on a consistent basis. How many times have we seen this year when he runs into the wrong hole, or directly into the back of an OL? His best asset right now is running hard up the middle, and hope to break free. And, he is very good in this area.

Don't get me wrong. I love cheering for Frank. He's been the ultimate professional player, a truly classy guy. He wants to win, and he works hard to make himself and the team better. But, he's not elite anymore. I watch nearly every NFL game every week, and see the best of the NFL backs on side-to-side screens. Frank is not amongst the best, and that is due to consistency. He is not consistent enough on a week-to-week basis (outside of his three biggest games this season, he is averaging 44 yards/game). So, call it what you will. 10th best overall? 12th? 14th?

Most noobs are great. I support the noobs. However, for some 46 year old guy to come onto the board lathered up, act like a 4th grader, and simply drop insults/profanity, is, how can I say this politely...worthy of clinical assistance.

its so funny how Gore has become the whipping boy after the Seattle loss. (maybe it started slightly before that, but its really picked up steam the last week). This is just pessimistic fans jumping on the latest self-loathing bandwagon. Now we can't even admit that we have a great runningback because we're so determined to naysay everything about this team. Pathetic.

Niners' fans have to take this game for what it is: A fluke. The Cardinals are a better team than the Niners right now, but as we know, every game is a new game, and you can only take one game at a time. This was one game. A great game for the Niners, and a stinker for the Cards.

Any victory is sweet, but the reality is that the Cardinals had no business turning the ball over seven times. Our defense is simply not that good, and their offense is simply not that bad. I hope fans do not expect the defense to be a turnover-creating machine from every game on out. This was an exception.

The same goes for Frank Gore, who looked terrific. However, let's not kid ourselves. Gore is a middle of the road running back. He's going to have a few great games, some average games, and some poor games. This was one of those special nights where everything fell into place.

The offensive line opened up huge holes, and dominated the Cardinals DL throughout the game. However, this is not our normal OL. We have struggled all season, and I doubt this one game changes the reality that our line generally stinks.

And, I sincerely doubt that our team suddenly falls back into the "smashmouth" philosophy. Who would we be kidding? We are a passing team that works best when the field is spread out. It just so happened that for one week, we could line up in a regular offensive formation and run at will.

Our CB's contained Fitzgerald and Boldin to less than 70 yards receiving TOTAL, but let's be realistic. Our passing defense was amongst the worst in the NFL going into the game, and I sincerely doubt that we are going to play weekly at a high level. It was just a wierd, wierd game.

And, finally, for those who think the Niners' pass rush has been solved, this would be another mirage. No doubt that we should salute the excellent effort of Justin Smith, Ahmad Brooks, Parys Haralson, and company. But once again, the offensive line performance this week by the Cardinals was a joke. If they played this poorly the week before, they would have surrendered 56 sacks to Jared Allen and the Vikings. They just stunk for a week, and we looked fresh.

So, while celebrating this victory, which was very sweet, the reality is that this game is indicative of the NFL. One week you can stink, and the next you can shine. The week before, the Cards whacked the Vikings and the Niners lose to the crappy Seahawks. This week, the Seahawks were crushed by the Texans 34-7, the Vikings destroyed the Bengals 30-10, and the Niners defeat a good Cardinals team.

So, I raise a toast to the David Baas', Dashon Goldson's, Ahmad Brooks', Dre Bly's, Adam Snyder's of the world this week, fully knowing that these players had terrific games. But, let's be realistic in our expectation of these guys down the road.

It is simply one week in the NFL. One wild and wacky week.

So beating the nfc champs twice is a fluke? Can some body please shut this clown up. We forced 7 turnovers on a team that hasnt given up one in for weeks! That is not a fluke my friend. What a ****ing hater how the eff do u call yourself a niner fan?

Seriously we can win this game! we had the vikes & indy! too bad it was farve & manning! this games is winnable! yes philly has some offense, but damnit that win on monday night either:

a) lit a serious fire for this team as a whole or

b) we have a letdown.

I seriously think A is the option here. Look the whole football world & vegas aren't giving us a chance not even a fighting chance. That's the best thing that could happen. Philly can easily look past us since they play Dallas again, they can afford to lose this, since they should win their next 2 games!

This team hasn't won 2 in a row since week 2! So people who believe they are going to lose are just being realistic.

That doesn't mean we won't be rooting for them to break the trend!

I'm rooting for 4 in a row!
