Our line is in the bottom half of the league.
Our offense isn't built to do anything.
Our offense was not Gore friendly for half the season.
Then you take into account what other teams do when gore is on the field. Do you really think the development of our passing game is due completely to a new Alex Smith and some rookie WR's? you cant truly believe that Vernon got open all those times for 20 yard passes in the center of the field all on his own did you?
Gore demands that opposing defense commit 7 men to the box and that they stay there. If you don't do this he will blow up a defense every time. This means our WR's are going to see man coverage more and Vernon can run past the frozen linebackers. All this and Gore can still break huge runs when the box has 8 and even 9 men stacked against him.
I know a 1000 yard season doesn't mean anything anymore, but to do it 4 years in a row with what this team has gone through offensively is pretty dame amazing if you ask me. Not just the rushing but he has at least 1400 yards from scrimmage those 4 season. The only guy who plays in a tougher situation is Steven Jackson.
