yea some ppl are on some good ish doubting whats been one of the few bright spots for this team since drafted

The guys you label as tops 5 back seem to very from year to year. You have to figure all factors into it. How skilled is the offense? is the offense built for the run? does the line know how to run block? After asking those questions, to me he cracks the top 5.

Our line is in the bottom half of the league.

Our offense isn't built to do anything.

Our offense was not Gore friendly for half the season.

Then you take into account what other teams do when gore is on the field. Do you really think the development of our passing game is due completely to a new Alex Smith and some rookie WR's? you cant truly believe that Vernon got open all those times for 20 yard passes in the center of the field all on his own did you?

Gore demands that opposing defense commit 7 men to the box and that they stay there. If you don't do this he will blow up a defense every time. This means our WR's are going to see man coverage more and Vernon can run past the frozen linebackers. All this and Gore can still break huge runs when the box has 8 and even 9 men stacked against him.

I know a 1000 yard season doesn't mean anything anymore, but to do it 4 years in a row with what this team has gone through offensively is pretty dame amazing if you ask me. Not just the rushing but he has at least 1400 yards from scrimmage those 4 season. The only guy who plays in a tougher situation is Steven Jackson.
Gore is a 8-9 spot because he is excellent in pass protection he does'nt fumble the ball to often he is a good rcvr 1000+ yrd in 4 seasons....I'm not gonna say he's a top 5 although I feel that he is but come on give the guy some credit He gets the job done and he is respected around the league for his ability to tear a hole wide open and run. He missed 2.5 games and the O/l has'nt been at top speed all while defenses game plan around his ability along side the switchup from a running offense to a passing.. Man He's better than any mid'tier RB and although he got miles on him now I guarentee that if we were to trade him now a team will pick him up pretty quick.

well said....
I dont see why people dont think he is a top 5 back, Hell We have a bad OL, Bad O, Unstable QB play, Gore gets half the carries as the other backs and he doesnt have that 6th gear.....

But he`s still close to the top every year....

Give gore a good balanced O with a good OL and even without that speed Gore can do just as good as AP/CJ if not better

IMO Gore is a complete back, top 3

Take that speed away from cj/ap and their not even in the same sentence as Gore....

Go shoot yourself.
Here's why:

1) Frank has run for a grand for four straight years (even though his attempts per game and total attempts per season have fallen year over year since 2006).

2) He's a threat to break a big gain every time he touches the ball (His long runs from 2005 to 2009 are as follows: 72 yds, 72 yds, 43 yds, 41 yds, and 80 yds).

3) He is one of two players ever to record two 75+ yard TD runs in the same game.

4) He is among the best pass blocking backs in the league.

5) He is a viable receiving threat...he's notched at least 50 receptions in 3 of the past 4 seasons.

The guy is steadily productive on the ground and in the air...and that just is what it is. Numbers don't lie.
Here are some things to think about Gore missed 2 games and only got 9 carries in the Seattle game.

# 4 Thomas Jones and # 5 Maurice Jones-Drew

TJ had 2 more games and 98 more carries than Gore for 1.324 and 4.4 avg
MJD had 2 more games and 90 more carries than Gore for 1,309 and 4.4 avg

Gore 14 games 206 carries for 1,013 and 4.9 avg

Most of the top backs are getting 20+ carries while Gore gets 16. Just give him the 4+ carries per game and he has 1.270 yards while missing 2 games, add the 2 games and 20 carries per game and hell he might have 1,460 which would make him # 2 on the list. 4 straight 1000 yard season a an offensive challenged team is damn good if you ask most folks. Gore has only missed 7 games in his career and except for 06 only gets an average of 16 carries a game in 06 he got almost 20 per game and had 1,695 and 5.4 average. By the way much like Steven Jackson the last 2 years Gore has been the focal point of the offense and has not had a stable Qb yet.
