First of all, I am sure he asked a dumb question to get that reaction out of Michael Crabtree. It wasn't like the conversation started with, "Drops?" Second, grilling a WR about passes thrown to him, is like asking a jump shooter why didn't he make his shots. Everyone knew that the pass was suppose to be in the back of the endzone, Alex Smith already had addressed it. Why would he bring that up with Crabtree ?? It all seems pointless and just a jab at Crabtree for no reason.

you apologists are funny. This guy gets paid a boatload of money to catch the football. When he doesn't he should be asked why. The guy is tied for second in the league for number of drops and missed 5 games.

It is trivial BS. No apologist here. The media love poking at guys to get a reaction. That gives them something to write about, and everyone to talk about it (like we are).
But ultiamtely it is trivial BS..."So you screwed up out there. Can you tell us more about that?"

He is known for his hands and is dropping passes. And reporters should ask him about his shoe contract? What questions would you approve? Were Smith's passes really as bad as you made them look?

All game related questions are fair game. I'm just saying no need to get so worked up over the answers from a 22 year old rookie. Much ado about nothing.

I agree until I think of how much money he makes! Then I start thinking about cost per drop...

I think he is going to be fine after more time together with the offense. This year is kind of a hard to judge too harshly, because the whole offense has been a mess again this season, and he had to jump into the deep end with no previous interaction with them.

I told Matt Barrows to not bring up that horrible Alex Smith thrown pass over Twitter. And he even agreed. But he did it anyways. He's just doing it for the hits to his blog.

@mattbarrows come on matt! that was a terrible behind-target, overthrown pass, no need to stir things up with our #1 WR.

lol how in the hell can a pass be overthrown but behind the reciever? It wasn't a horrible throw. It was right by his face dude. Sing already said when he addressed that, if it's close to your body than you should catch it. And he was getting hit when he threw the pass. In the future Crabtree is expected to catch that pass IMO.

Crabtree was running full stride, the pass was overthrown and behind target. How is that so hard to comprehend?

I was trying to find video of the pass Matt was referring to that he was gonna ask Crabs about
Even he said that was a hard pass to catch
So why even bring it up if he knows the answer?

Supposed to talk to Michael Crabtree (who is as reclusive as JD Salinger) today. Will ask about his Lloydian reaction to the 4th Q pass ...
Even he said that was a hard pass to catch

Agree that particular play would have required an amazing catch, but there have been some easy balls that have been pure drops, plain and simple.
So why even bring it up if he knows the answer?

The only reason you could ever think that pass was OVERTHROWN was because Michael Crabtree ducked like a little b***h. Had he been running "full stride" and upright, then that would've hit him right in the mouth. That was a gorgeous pass between two defenders while getting hit. That play, or lack thereof, is lays on Crabtree.
