His speed has not translated into Patrick Willis type of production but his production like many have hoped out of him, but hasn't he been stepping his game up as the coaches have been challenging him. Seems like since the coaches have taken away more of his pass rushing opportunities he has gotten to the QB more. HE HAS 5 SACKS IN THE LAST 7 GAMES, He has forced 2 fumbles in the last two weeks. He doesn't look pretty out there but he's starting to get the job done. Brooks may have been the push the other two LB needed to help bring pressure to the QB. He constantly pushes the pocket and seems to be getting better every week. He was a stud coming out of college but hasn't shown it in the NFL. It seems as his confidence grows he has become a better pass rusher. Since he has pushed the other guys for more playing time the pass rush has produced sacks. Since he has been starting the nickel pass rush the 49ers have produced 11 sacks in two games. If 49ers continue this through the rest of the season I don't think they should force the issue in getting a pass rusher. What do you think???

I think so too! Goldson is always on the ball, and you know I think if we draft a safety this year...eric berry wont be there unless we have 2 picks in the top 10, which right now is looking highly probable....we could really load up this year...

or should we trade down and get 2 picks for each of those..

we could trade our two picks, and get a first and a 3rd for each of them...

what do you guys think?

He's always on the ball if it's a group tackle or he has help, if he needs to make an open field tackle he ALWAYS whiffs and lets them pass for an even bigger gain.

It depends. What I would like to see (and this is me as a fantasy GM) is to try to get Nnamdi from across the bay. i'm not sure if he's a FA after this year, but if he isn't we can dangle a 1st rounder (probably a later one) to entice Oakland to give him up. Heck, I'd even throw in a third rounder and Balmer to get Seymour as well. I'd see if Nate is willing to slide to either safety position, and then I'd have a shut down corner, a roaming safety who can come up and support the run and a D-Line stud who will be back in a more familiar 3-4 D and playing opposite of Justin Smith...ah...but only in the world of madden....

If a Jared Allen type is out there then get him for sure. But getting another solid OLB is not going to get us better faster than getting a Safety or OL.. therefore safety and Offensive is the priority until they are addressed.

I think Lawson has done a good job. He has set the edge for the running game - Defense was 5th on the running game and part of that has been Lawson. He has forced two fumbles, and three sacks in the last three games. So he is doing his part.

In reference to Goldson. Improved but still needs more improvement. I hope that this year we will draft another FS and get rid of Roman. Roman has just enough skill to hang around but not enough skill to take care of our needs. He has maxed out and if at all possible we need to purge him.

Should be an interesting draft on defense. Oline seems to be settled. We need to re-sign Franklin and we should be set on the Dline. We need another ILB, and another ILB and then a CB and FS. I think Lewis is about done.

But clearly get us some oline men as well.

The Oline is not set at all. Our oline can't run block to save their life.

They couldn't pass protect either, but since going primarily to a shot-gun approach, they've only given up 1 sack in the last 10 quarters. Perhaps it's our run/blocking-scheme that needs to be tweaked and not necessarily (or only) the talent (which does need to be addressed as well, but perhaps isn't as awful as we all might think).

Maybe going away from a power run blocking scheme and moving towards a zone-blocking scheme might be the answer.

That wouldn't be a bad idea but we would still need a RT and G, i think Chilo is big but he can move.

I just suprised that brooks is very good and great to sacks with QB.. I really like to see him stay and play next year again. Brooks has really played better than Lawson..

Need? No.

they need O-line before any pass rusher in the draft... also need a return man and quite a few other positions.

Just teasing....but truth is, we fans are so impatient when it comes to these young players. When they don't produce like pro-bowlers right away, we just want to discard them and bring someone else in.

We forget that in some cases, it takes a little time to develop some of these guys. In the case of Manny, Parys, Brooks, Brown, etc., they're slowly developing into really good football players to the point where next year, we could easily have a top-5 defense.
