Post Game Analysis (vs. Saints)

Has anyone ever thought that maybe Crabtree was running the wrong route, kinda like making it up on the fly. Which works in street ball but not in the pros. Just a little food for thought

That is part of it. Speed is the major reason Ginn was signed here.

While I have no delusion Ginn will solve the problem, it is a hopeful sign that the front office recognizes that lack of speed is a problem on offense. They recognized it was a problem on defense as they drafted Mays and Bowman, both of whom have excellent speed for their positions. In the long run, that will help the defense solve a major issue. Now they must look for a WR speed guy in the 2011 draft.

Isn't Kyle Williams pretty fast? He looked quick as hell on the few kick returns we've seen him in.

Williams is very quick and agile but his straight line speed is nothing special. But good you brought him up. I had forgotten about him since he has played so little. He may help but with all the time he has lost it is unlikely he will see many snaps from scrimmage this season as a WR.

The time management for the Saints game improved over the Seahawks game. Im not sure if the wasted timeout was the coaches fault or not. Seemed like Veron didnt know if he was suppose to be in there or not.

The punt return game is what concerns me. Every time we get a punt I cringe. I'd rather have no one back there and let the ball bounce than have someone back there and chance a muff. Hopefully Ginn will solve this.

Williams will solve this, Ginn is the KR. Very soon these issues will be gone.

Haven't heard anything yet, Williams should be soon. Ginn will probably be another week.

He is VERY quick out of his breaks on his route and creates immediate separation.

I think it's a matter of Smith not trusting him completely.

After reviewing the play and the last drive - IMHO, the offense did it right all the way. Ultimately, the defense did not stop the Shaints on their final drive. Somehow, the Defense is not gunning for the ball, or trying hard to create turnovers this last two game. Somebody has to keep trying to jar the ball looose!

Today, I know the key to the playoffs - the Defense as a whole must create opportunities for the Offense by forcing turnovers. They have to pound the ball loose in the process of tacking the ball carrier!

We gave up two big underneath plays on the last drive, right? Why change up the defensive scheme if it's been working.

What's not being discussed re time management is the final drive that actually took too little time! Sing or Alex himself, should have slowed things down a bit to use as much clock as possible at the end. They gave the Saints too much time to drive back for that field goal. Even one of the announcers mentioned it as the 9'ers were driving and sure enough...... Shouldn't Sing have thought of that? Just asking.
