I hope we can fill some holes in free agency. There's no guarantee you solve all your problems in the draft.

and what I mean by that is we ignored OL and OLB during free agency and then the draft comes around and we ignore it there too

me too. It would be a big help if alex can play decent ball. but man it's frustrating and makes you realize the problems we have after all of the losses.
Hope we can turn it around somehow. I just have another bad feeling...

Not unless our passing attack starts to take off, and the OLine can somehow figure out what blocking is.

This can't be right. Because a few zoners were laughed at for suggesting that Gore's trade value was peaking during the off-season

The zone told them Frank Gore was UN-Tradeable.....mockingly so even.

surely an untradeable back is going to pick up 1,000 yds right?

lol hoping our oline will play well. Ive been hoping for that for yrs! grrrrr. I really think we just need to get some new guys b/c they two starting guards and rt we have should not be starting.

I still wouldn't trade gore. We have no one to replace him with.

Couldn't care less if Gore gets his 1000 yards, hope he stays healthy enough to get us 9-10 wins and a division title. 1k backs are a dime a dozen now, he's still a big playmaker for us but if distributing the ball more evenly is what gets us wins then that's what we need to do.

Oh, and no I don't think he reaches that mark this year.

We haven't been able to run all year outside of two long runs vs. a depleted SEA team. Some of this may have been due to Hill's presence behind center, but even the running plays we call have been poor. He's still a special player, I just don't see it happening this year behind this OL and unimaginative running game.

I hope I'm wrong, though.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Gore has averaged 2.3 yds per carry excluding the 2 big ones he popped on Seattle. That means that he is very consistent at running the ball for less than 3 yards. It's almost money that any time we hand off, it will be for less than 3 yards. That won't get it done. So no, he won't come any where near 1000 yards.

What could make me wrong is the play of Alex Smith, VD, and our receivers. If they continue to make plays, they will open things up for the run game. Yet again on the flip side, if the weak Texans defense can stop Frank Gore with 2 deep safeties, so can every other team.

What would make you wrong is he would have to have the worst year of his career for you to be right. He's already over a quarter of the way there and has only played in THREE games (not counting the one carry he had in Minnesota). If he manages three 100 yard games out of the next ten he'll only have to average 62 ypg in the other seven games.

You've only seen him play in three games this year. The guy has never averaged less than 4.2 ypc. No matter who was on the o-line, who the coach was, or what scheme they were running. Three games into that season Frank only had 175 yards but he still managed 4.2 ypc for the SEASON. Assuming a minimum of 18 carrier per game average over the next ten games he'll still have 1,000 yards even if he matches the WORST YPC of his career during that same time span.

The only way he doesn't reach 1,000 yards is if he's out another 2 or 3 games.
