Here's my compromise, the niners send him a letter upping the offer to $1 less than the #9 pick guarenteed, but with NO incentives, none. But then already dock him 1/80th of that (16 games * 5 years) for missing AZ. The letter should also say his rights will not be traded and the niners will not allow him to work out for any other teams, until they no longer own his rights. If that doesn't scare him into signing, then we just walk away... still trade his butt to whoever offers the best deal hopefully for the Rams #1 pick so Willis can decapitate him next year.

Kawakami: QB fight looks even after opening roundNFL: Vick anxious to make good on second chance with EaglesAs far as Jed York is concerned, there is no turning back in the high-stakes poker with first-round pick Michael Crabtree. He said he is confident the 49ers will get a deal done.
"We're all in,'' he said.
Speaking to a handful of reporters just before kickoff, York noted that Friday marked the trade deadline for unsigned draft choices.
Earlier in the day, there were breakthroughs with some other top picks. The Green Bay Packers reportedly signed defensive lineman B.J. Raji, the No. 9 overall pick, to a five-year, $28.5 million deal that includes just under $18 million in guaranteed money.
Offensive tackle Eugene Monroe, the No. 8 overall pick in last spring's draft, signed a five-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Crabtree, the Texas Tech receiver, is believed to be seeking a contract worth more than is unofficially slotted for a No. 10 draft choice.
York did not address financial figures. He said only that the ink would eventually be on the dotted line.
"We'll get it done,'' he said. "I don't know when, but we'll get it done."
That doesn't look like a guarantee to me.

Unless there's something he signed with his agent that would prevent him from just cutting loose without penalty.

He didn't come and use the word guaranteed but he said "we'll get it done" isn't that basically a guarantee...

I think it is up to Cashtree to get the deal done, I don't know why but I feel as he does not want to be a niner, whatever the case missing an entire season would be Cashtree worst decision in his young life.

Why do I keep reading, "what team would trade for Crabtree if they dont know they could sign him?"
Seriously?
Do you think there is a real chance that Crabtree would sit out two years in a row? LOL.
That is why this whole thing doesnt make sense. Crabtree has little to no leverage at the moment. He will have zero leverage the second time around. In fact, he will be at the mercy of ANY TEAM that trades for him since he would have already committed to the nuclear option. To sit out a second season would be suicide.
If anyone sat down and just raised this one simple issue to him he would be in Santa Clara HQ tomorrow. Enough said.

Can we trade for him if another team drafts him? I would be willing to part with a 2nd or 3rd round pick and a player like Jason Hill to destroy this kids career lol

Actually, if he doesn't sign with the team that he is traded to before the draft, that team loses the rights to him and he re-enters the draft. So a team WOULD want to secure a deal with him before trading for him.

I really hope he wakes up tommorrow & decides to get in here. Someone needs to give him some good advice.
