While rookie salaries are out of control the slotting system is the only means of imposing some order on an otherwise disorderly system. If you throw that system out or break it (like you're implying they should) then you'll never get anyone signed to a reasonable deal.

My business reason is because he's worth it....why do you CARE if they overpay?? is it your money?? I would much rather have the best WR in this draft on our team than a waisted pick....call me crazy. But teams have overpaid for players in the past....it's not inconceievable for us to do the same.....but your right I am pissed right now and believe I feel Crabs is more to blame....but for us to not sweeten the deal is not smart IMO....if Eddie D was here this wouldn't even be an issue.

Except...Crabtree has not PROVEN he is the best NFL WR out of this draft. He can't even prove he is interested in playing.

Ok your point is?? None of the draft picks are proven.....I don't think that stopped teams from paying them Millions of dollars.
