Regarding the two teams Deion mentioned that would be willing to trade and pay for Michael Crabtree... I now think Deion was bluffing as a tactic to try to get the 49ers to budge.

We're the losers here, plain and simple. We need value out of the 10th pick. Does anyone honestly think we're gonna get a 1st rounder for Crabtree in March? I don't see it happening...that team will just say "ok we'll take our chances with drafting him then."

How can we not offer more than this "slotted" contract and then honestly act like we tried to sign him? We thought he was bluffing...he's not. So we lose, pay him.

Agreed, I find it amazing that people don't think that we need this guy. When is the last tim ewe went to the playoff. When was the last time we went to the playoffs are were a threat and not just a product of a s**tty division. We have not had a team that was worth mentioning in over a decade. But some how people on this thread believe that we don't need a stud reciever. What does a couple of million extra a year mean other than pride. Give me a break! I understand that this guy is a douchebag. So what, shove your pride in a bag and get in a uni.

Totally f**king agreed. This is ridiculous. Get the MOTHERf**kING DEAL DONE. PAY HIM A COUPLE MORE MILLION YOU f**kIN CHEAP PIECES OF s**t. CAN'T EVEN GET A f**kING STADIUM DONE FOR 15 f**kING YEARS, CAN'T EVEN SIGN A 10TH PICK!? DUDE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY BE OUR BEST PLAYMAKER YOU f**kS.

He doesn't want a COUPLE million more. He wants 5+ million more. You can't just cave into that otherwise you'll never get another highly touted draft pick signed and you'll never get to resign your own players without getting bent over. Besides that, the players on your own roster would have ZERO respect for the front office.

It's always said that football is a business and this is a classic business decision. This has nothing to do with the football.

And I don't see why you both are all up in arms to the Niners. They want to pay him 16 MILLION freaking dollars, 16 FREAKING MILLION! And that's not enough for this chump? It's pure and simple greed and I'm glad the front office isn't being bullied. Crabtree's going to be the one to take it in the shorts if he sits out the season.

I don't think he's signing. I held out hope, but anyone who can miss a game check and not blink about it doesn't want to be here. I don't know, Jamarcus did the same thing to Oakland, and he signed during week two, so there is hope but I just don't see it.

The business decisions made by the front office for the last couple of seasons has translated to a mediocre product on the field.

You want to know how to start paying draft picks less?

By winning games and picking in the bottom 10 instead of the top 10 for a change.

Dude just cause 16 million is a lot to you, Crabtree believes over his career, through sponsorships and contract money, he'd make much more then that. 5 more million? Who the f**k cares what the number is, McCloughan has always made contracts which have kept us out of cap hell, and if Crabtree wants 21 mil, just f**kign give it to him. If you guys really believe other players will hold this over us, then f**k them. Crabtree has a chance to be the best WR we have had since TO, why not take the f**king chance?

When was the last time this team took a chance? Oh yeah, not picking Desean Jackson. Nice one.

In Schefter's report, he states that the Niners are not budging from the 10th slot. So, we know their contract offer. We don't know what Crabtree is asking (cheers to Parker for keeping this confidential...unlike our organization that leaks information to every newspaper reporter through league sources).

Say what you want about Parker, but he's kept the contract negotiation silent, which allowed for some form of compromise in the end. He could be asking for top 5, top 7 money, or simply something out of the tenth slot. We simply don't know. And, that is the key to a good contract negotiation.

But since the Niners have made it clear to the world that they aren't budging, this contract is not going to be signed. Just a stupid, stupid manuever. It puts them, and Crabtree into a box that has no solution, other than one side having to cave in and lose face. This has become a "saving face" situation for both sides, and the Niners have created this situation by going public through secondary and third parties.

Crabtree is an easy target for scorn, but this also shows the organization to have severe problems. They are just as culpable, or more, for this disaster.

He didn't report that Crabtree WILL sit out the season. He simply reported the same thing we have been hearing for weeks. That Crabtree COULD sit out the season.

This is the title of that column:

"Niners' draft pick could sit out season"

When Schefter has real news it will be on his twitter page.

I like this part

"The 49ers still want Crabtree, they still think he can make an impact, it's just that no one in the organization can now envision a way in which it would happen."

How about increasing the offer a bit

He doesn't want to be here, ads. You should know that by now.

The only solution is for Crabtree to change agents and get a deal done then. Parker can say he didn't cave, Crabtree can say he didn't have anything to do with it, and the 49ers can say they didn't want to deal with Parker.

I still don't understand how the 49ers can be so stupid to think that they can just offer one contract and be done with "negotiations." Do the Yorks want to get the approval of the fellow owners? The other owners are laughing at them.
On NFL Network they are going to talk about Crabtree. The title; "Almost over?"
