Prediction: Crabtree will sign just before Sunday... I think late tomorrow.
He will not contribute early but will definately get playing time around week 3... begin to play well after the bye, and work his way into an extended role and begin to show his worth and potential by the end of the season and quieting his critics. This hold out will be a faint memory as he will have a spectacular playoff performance.. thus establishing his National Stage presence. He will thrive on Sunday & Monday night games played in the future... and will be an integral part of our team for years to come. He will not be a cancer, but a great team player who will block downfield for Gore and Coffee. He will be the first player to run down DB's on interceptions. He will be passionate... and give our team the swagger we need.

I don't want him, I don't want him, I don't want him!
We have learned something about him that we did not know when we drafted him. Experiencing this PROBLEM now is like discovering that he lost three fingers off his right hand. It diminishes his value. It reduces his worth to that of a fifth rounder, or lower.
A player is as valuable as the sum of his parts. For those who diminished Kory Sheets value because he is not good at picking up blitzes, you must similarly condemn Craptree's value because he is not good at signing fair contracts.
We must move on. We do not want to compound the mistake. Use the money on free agents - time-tested veterans - much like New England does from time to time.

It looks like he will sit the season at this point. Stupid and sad, but it appears to be the reality of the situation. My hope is the Cowboys pony up two draft picks (1st and a 3rd) and Anthony Spencer (.......a pass rusher we could use DESPERATELY) for the rights to sign their native son. As far as I'm concerned, good riddance as long as the Niners get some serious compensation.

oh I never said there was anything wrong with positive thinking. I just really really dont think crabtree wants to play here. that dude just seems so hell bent on making 40 million that he is willing to bet it all on him getting drafted top 5 next year to get it.

A thought that's been kicking around my noggin for a couple of days just came-up on KNBR with Fitz & Brooks along with Kevin Lynch. The name of Curt Flood came up and the idea that Crabtree and Parker are doing what they're doing with the specific intent to make an impact on how the NFL does business with future rookies.
It's no more or less plausible than the next theory. Just throwing it out there.

So when is the absolute latest he can sign before missing the first game check? Can he sign Sunday before the game or does it have to be tomorrow sometime? By midnight tomorrow?
