Will Nate Clements eventually make the move to Safety?

This guy needs to step up & play the guys at the line of scrimmage . This dropping off back as far as the safety at the snap is just crazy!
for 80 million dollars, he better be doing something sooner than later. CB, SS, FS, I don't care. Just start making some more plays Nate Clements.
He plays off because there is no pass rush. Why play at the LOS when nobody is rushing and all you have to do is run a go route and just lead a WR.

And if anyone notices we are playing a flipping 4-3 to 3-4 base right now. In only a couple of plays did we go FULL 3-4 scheme.

I think Nate is so afraid to get beat deep he leaves a lot of cushion between himself and the receiver. Funny thing is he would still get beat deep.

Remember Moss vs N.E
Owens vs. Dal. (everyone hates that game, especially if you have DirectTV)
Moore vs N.O.

For the record, even Nnamdi Asomugha was having some trouble covering Lance Moore this past weekend. Terrell Owens & Randy Moss are elite receivers. How did Nate Clements do against everyone else (i.e. Larry Fitzgerald). I think he did pretty good!

He does okay some games but I've seen him get beat so bad in some games that it makes me cringe. He's great hitter and tackler but I think the poster of this thread is just thinking what a lot of us have wondered at times. For the record I love Nate, just wish he didn't get burned so often. I know it happens to everyone.

Especially in that Dallas game last year.

everyone saying "its preseason"

did you NOT watch last season?

exactly! he was never an elite coverage guy at 80 million. he got burnt like toast last season. he makes plays here and there. but more then anything he's a better tackler then he is a cover guy. he's too slow!

His contract is what is killing the move! I say Green, Brown, Bly, & Spencer at CB with Nate and Williams at safety would be a killer back field! Goldson and Roman would be the back-ups at FS/SS!

Huh? Williams?

I changed it, but that's how much our backfield sucks. I don't even know thier names! LOL

I mean I like clements

but he gets burned too often IMO and plays too far off

That's what I just posted without even seeing this post. I mean some of the times he got beat there was pressure in on the QB.

i.e. the frickin' Dallas game last year.
Preseason or not you can't give the QB & WR a pitch & catch on 3rd & 7 & you starting 8 yards off the LOS at the snap!

I hate the fact that I'm saying this...but...Tony Romo does an excellent job of finding guys even when there is a decent pass rush. That's what makes him a Pro Bowler.

We are gonna need this kind of quarterback play if we wanna see the playoffs this year. I think our defense is gonna be just fine.
He'll be able to cover just fine when the D gets some pass rush....

how does one cover just fine from 10-20 yards away?

that won't be happening in the reg. season, I expect Singletary to allow Manusky to run the D much tighter than Nolan allowed him to do.

hasn't it already been discovered that the CB's are allowed to give a cusion at their discretion? They should be playing up tight and how they will play normally during the preseason so they are in fluid form by the time the regular season comes. You don't want them having to get used to it during the first few weeks, all while getting burned left and right because they played deeper than the safety during the preseason

This is very true

Mother f**ker needs to play closer to the receiver

if u guys remember he did the same thing last preseason but ended up playing close to them when season started
