Huard vs. Davis

I say let Huard go. Smith still has potential and was kind of screwed by the receivers against the Faiders. VD, Bruce and Morgan dropped catchable balls. Nate Davis won't make it to the PS so Huard the odd man out.

Now, i understand that he has played vs inferior competition but he is a rookie 5th round QB with a learning disability that looks real good and we already know what we have in Alex, so im all for him to take the field in the first quarter and let him finish the game.

I think it makes sense, from a fans point of view anyways.Even if Davis played against lower rated players, He showed great poise in the position.I think the NINERS should start him in the last pre's game to see how he handles against a starting D'. I think it would be a great evaluation tool.

We have a mini blockbuster: John Clayton reported a short time ago that Pats will release QB Kevin O'Connell. Who's backing up Tom Brady now? http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter

50 cents says its Damon Huard???

man...they should give the RAT MAN at chance....a real one this time .....

but if they do go after Huard.....what does that say about our team.....we would rather keep Alex as our backup....where as the Patriots...who are a SuperBowl caliber team....would rather have Huard, out of all other QBs.

We should trade him for draft pick or back up Tackle. Leak that we are cutting Smith and trade Huard.

Both Huard and Smith have little to no trade value.

If there is a team that want's Smith, why trade for him when you can get him as a free agent next season.

As for Huard, he's 36yrs old. Good ole Billy may want him, but he's not going to give up anything for him. There's other QB's he could (and will) sign as free agents.
why would teams trade for a QB that is going to be cut?

Huard might be waving to you later in the year from the playoffs....

so where is the hatred coming from as far as Huard and some 49er "fans"?

I'm sure some who believe in Shaun Hill don't mind having Huard around..... Nate Davis fans don't have to worry about Huard taking Davis' spot on the team.....hmmm, who's left?
Huard is done being a 9er. Davis will be on the 53. There is no way we risk putting him on PS to get plucked...NO WAY!!!

I am glad that Singletary is holding off on this decision just a wee bit longer. I think every 49er fan is at least very intriqued by Davis. I hope that Singletary takes another very long thorough look at Nate in the up coming San Diego game. I know that I want to see if Nate can be as effective in another debut ------ The team can't try and slip Davis onto the P.S.
All Huard has on Davis is experience. And considering the fact that Davis has natural talent equal to that of a high 2nd, even late 1st -- based on everything I saw last year until he had a rough two last games last season -- Davis has to stay. Now that teams know he can simply, flat-out play, we can't let him go or he'll be gone.

Huard has zero upside. Davis needs to be kept and developed. Cutting him to keep a guy who isn't even going to be here next year would be an incredibly stupid move. Huard is at best the #3, and in all likelihood wouldn't even see action the entire year with this team. I'd take my chances and run with the low risk that the unlikely happens and Davis would have to start.

The benefits of keeping Nate far outweigh the benefits of keeping Huard.

pffff.... if the Patriots wanted someone better they would trade for Alex Smith.

ur joking right? Alex Smith is a F**king joke man. This kid is the Next Joey Harrington, Dave Carr, and all those other QB that were drafted high & never amounted to nothing in the NFL....

Are you joking? I think Harrington and Carr are better than Smith.

OTC, do you think that Davis's performance against 3rd stringers is enough for the team to pass on an early QB next year if Hill doesn't perform?

Not keeping Davis would be as dumb as drafting and starting Alex Smith.
