For a guy who started the now infamous JTO EXPRESS thread at this time last year, you're pretty cocky. One thing to criticise our backup QB (probably), something else to demand "our" money back.

At least A. Smith didn't throw three Ints this morning. Lighten up, bro.

Even better, at least Alex Smith didn't declar JTO the savior of the 49er franchise like a certain Smith hater. But then again that just shows what that poster really knows about the QB position and football

Smith got beat out by JTO. If Hill was allowed to play in preseason, then Nolan would have had a tougher decision. It's not like JTO didn't have the talent to make ALL of the throws...cough...cough, the only reason people are giving for Alex. JTO was in a very high risk system that got dumbed down when Hill played. Even then, no one could have predicted that his hands could possibly be smaller than Alex Smith's hands. Go figure.

you're a disgrace as a fan. Poster above me is correct. You'd root for Smith to fail just so you can say I told you so.

The qb competition last year was a joke. So was the fact that Smith was pushed to play when his shoulder never healed properly.

What kind of fan roots for a player to fail?

I would rather have Alex Smith succeed but he has never done anything for me to get my hopes that high. I'm just saying that, to me, the kid has nto shown any NFL skill that he can be a consistently good QB. Yeah, he has the speed and distance throwing ability, but there is just too much important reall stuff an NFL QB needs that he lacks that just can't miraculously improve.

That is a mighty nice excuse you have there

Yes, we all remember our past disappointments. Let it go and focus on the present and the future.

New HC! Remember?

Seems like we got a guy who knows what he's doing back in charge. How about letting HIM decide who the QB's gonna be, and letting him develop the players on the team, including the QBs.

How can we have taken the celebrations of a really terrific practice--the best Bly and Clements have seen in 20 yrs of combined NFL experience--and turn it into yet another Hill/Smith "discussion."

BTW, you all heard, Clements 3 ints, Bly 1 int, Dyral B. 1 int. Great morning practice for the Niners. Seems like Singletary has these guys focused and toughened up. How bout that?

BTW: Sorry, JoeCool, about bringing up the JTO Express thread. Just trying to kid you a little bit to see if I could lighten your mood and get you to focus on the great day the defense had, instead of . . . well, you know.

GO NINERS.

How are we getting all of these interceptions if we have no pass-rush? We must have JUST enough pass-rush.

Lets not get to excited people. Just remember we talking about practice, not a game but practice. We talking bout practice.

Because it's the Raiders and our QB issues is THE KEY to this team getting into the playoffs. Our defense was respectable last year, but our QB killed us. Every year, it's same damn thing, our QB and when we do make a change, it's too late.

We did have some momentum tward the end if the season last year and if we can just pick up where we left off we will have a good season.

Excellent point that's worth remembering.

However, it's difficult not to compare this TC and preseason with last year's; hard to ignore the differences, especially in the focus and toughness of the players.

That, and our D kicked some Raider butt this morning!!! That's a good thing anytime, anywhere, practice or not. IMHO.

Of course. But it's exciting to hear anyway. I'll feel better if I see it carry over to Saturday night.

There is also some truth to the saying you play like you practice.

A valid point, based on history, but let me remind you again: we have a new and different HC now. He seems to know what he's doing.

Let the past mistakes go and focus on what Singletary's doing NOW and you may find reason for a little optimism, even about the QB situation. IMHO.

Dude, seriously... I'm a "noob" and even I know how you feel about Alex. Hell, there is probably some village in South Africa without an internet connection that knows how you feel about Alex.

Do you really need to hijack every thread with this? I realize you have a hard time seeing anything besides the QB competition, but you have a whole thread dedicated to the topic. ..

Ya gotta love hearing about practices like the one this morning. It's winning these little victories that are going to allow the team to build confidence and start to come together.
