In 10 years: Best 49er TE of All-Time??

Brent Jones was the best TE I can remember...there have been others, like Ted Kwalick (look it up), Russ Francis. Vernon could become one of the greats...he just hasn't yet, but it's still early in his career.

RUSS F*CKING FRANCIS

lol, i wasnt alive to remember much of the 80's, was every 49ers game overcast? there just doesnt seem to be many pics of sunny 49er games in the 80's for some reason.

During the 80s' we had alot of Sunny days.

The overcast stuff only came in against contending teams. Field would be so muddy that the team would wear a 1" cleat when most teams would wear .05-.075". You should get a ruler to understand what an advantage that was for us. Now every team prepares for the stick the way we did.

Consider it our own version of Lambeau weather.

So when we move to santa clara are we still gonna have that advantage as well? I don't think it will be so much the same.

And just one more reason that I want the team to remain where it belongs. Shoot they might just as well put that fake turf stuff in the new stadium as far as I am concerned at this point. Freakin idiot local government bureaucrats just doin their part yet again. Did anyone see how much the projected earnings for stadium will be if the stadium deal goes through? Talk about a big lss in revenue.

Man this really irritates me the niners are moving. Thhat soaked ass turf was as much of a trafition of the niners of joe montana imo.

Ten years from now, who will be the known as the best TE to ever play for the 49ers? Brent Jones or VD? Obviously the favorite is Brent Jones but we all know VD has the potential to be one of the greats.

Russ Francis or Charle Young
Brent Jones
hard to get any new 49er to beat any old 49er according to most people on here. i think Vernon has a shot to do it even tho Brent was the man. Im gonna go with Vernon, if he stays healthy theres no reason why he shouldnt pass jones.
10 years frmo now its obviously gonna be VD however i dont think its really fair to compare them TE are used in a completely different way tehn they used to be used
Monty Stickles was the meanest. He had a bur haircut, was missing a few front teeth and was a mean as he looked. As a kid in Kezar in the 60s I recall him throwing a ball, very fast and hard at a ref after a bad call. He was booted, but it set the tone. That day the 9ers were not going to take any sh!t from anyone. I don't see players with juevos like that anymore.

John Frank, in his short career, had a good skill set as blocker and receiver. I like the fact that he never backed down from the cocaine-enhanced Lawrence Taylor of the Giants. It seemed they every time the 9ers played the Giants Frank was getting into fisticuffs with Taylor. Also, I don't recall Taylor having strong games against the 9ers when Frank was around. Frank neutralized him psychologically and physically.

Brent Jones was an awesome receiver. He has soft hands and took many a nasty hit (including many uncalled cheap shots) and held on to the ball. For now Jones was better than Veron Davis. Jones also played on better teams and had some very good quarterbacks throwing at him.
