Technically, ground has already been broken. All the beat writers had to clean their stuff out of their doublewide office, and the whole area and part of the parking lot has been leveled and their doing work on the sewer lines. Relocating them, and stuff.

Congrats, boys. We gotta stadium.

Can we start the "Official 2014 Home Opener Tailgate thread" now? Start planning who will be there, who is bringing what, etc.

Yes, but they have yet to do much at the actual stadium site. Most of the work has been at por around the HQ. "Make Ready" work before the stadium can go up.
TV 49 with another video about the construction.

If you're not familiar with the area, there's a pretty sizeable residential population. Taxes are one thing, which I really don't think will happen according to the city Measure J that passed, but another thing is quality of life, which I understand. Economic help, is another thing, which if a Super Bowl happens, Santa Clara will definitely rake it in. Residents who live around the stadium are going to have to deal with the commotion of 68K fans coming into the stadium to park. Not to mention, folks will want to use back roads and perhaps want to use the nearby residential areas for parking. On top of that, the nearby streets could be pretty damn hectic. You gotta understand that residents could find this annoying in no time.

I think these are issues that the SC city managers could eventually figure out, but ultimately, it's a legitimate concern by Santa Clara residents. HOWEVER, if residents were really concerned about this, they would've overwhelmingly voted against this measure, which was not the case.

All this said, I'm pretty damn amped for 2014.

Lets not start blanking each others blanks just yet. A LOT of work still needs to be done.

Thats kinda my point. All the extra people was always going to be an issue, so if that was the real reason to kill the deal, it wouldn't have passed.

All these concerns about debt and such are completely phony...they are simply trying to get around the Measure that passed by finding another way to have a crack at defeating it because they flat out don't want it. I respect them if they don't want the stadium in their neighborhood, but the people have spoken. Sit down and shut up now. You lost.

A lot of work but we can all feel pretty good in the fact that if the York's felt or were told something would be in the way or could be in the way in the future they wouldn't have started tearing apart the 49ers headquarters and it's surrounding areas. They wouldn't be 6 months ahead of schedule. They would have stuck to their original plan or even slowed things down.

March 5th is the last real legal hurdle. On that day the Santa Clara County Superior Court is holding a hearing on whether or not to uphold the City's refusal to certify the new referendum signatures. If upheld it's over for the stadium foes. I've read a few things that suggest the City is on solid ground with plenty of precedent, which I guess is why they're taking the risk of doing all this make ready work.
I read somewhere that if the SC Superior Court upholds the Santa Clara City Attorney's decision not to put the Referendum Signatures to the ballot, that SCPF will Appeal, and take this all the way to the Supreme Court of California. I guess they feel that strongly about the issue, or most likely they don't want to be saddled with paying for a stadium.

I hope that anti-stadium group doesn't delay the construction. We need to start this as soon as possible if we want to open in 2014.

People just like to complain... Gives them something to do. I live in a town of just under 50,000 people and the last two major projects have had a section of the residents complaining. There complaints had no basis and years after the one project was completed their complaints turned out to be completely unfounded. With any project you are going to have people protesting and saying it is the worst thing ever.
Checked out google maps to see time to candlestick vs time to great america. Great america is 20 min longer, however, with more freeway access, game day should be a lot faster.

There is hope for me then!

There is hope.lol...The only difference in some of the pricing( JETS) is SBL...I looked at where my seats would be, the ticket price is the same as the upper deck, except i would have to pay a SBL...for a better seat.
